Time to clear things up for good · 9:16am Sep 14th, 2013
So! I still see that I haven't gotten someone to help me preread/proofread my story! (neither IRL friends or friendly folks on the site)
..... Am I really that hesitant to ask for help, or am I not sure I should even keep trying finish the story?
I am on my senior year in High School, and so far it has been very uneventful actualy. I WANT to work on a story, but I feel uncomfortable doing it with this unfinished Winona turns into a Diamond dog idea. I am thinking of handing someone else the responsibility of the story, but while still helping prereading and offering imput to help it become something brilliant!
Mabye once I have a clean slate in my mind I will write a different story, and have it preread and well developed BEFORE posting and promising I will work on it on FimFiction (What happened the Winona the Diamond Dog was a Huge error on my part)
At anyrate, there is no way I have ever abandoned FimFiction, I visit this place DAILY and have for months, if not a couple of years!
Overtime it seems that I have went from reading stories, to posting stuff on blogs about stories. That and I have A LOT of stories in Read Later, and Favorites, and as much as I try to give all of them a chance, I seem to keep adding more and pushing them further down the barrel. You guys make way too much awesome stories..... Seriously at this rate I will have enough to last me an entire lifetime of just sitting and reading awesome stories about ponies.
Because of this I will make a vow: First I will sort out my unread favorites and read later archive. (This may take some of my time away but not all of it) I will only have one story over 100k words in my unread Favorites/Read Later at a time, plenty of short/oneshot stories, a very limited amount of Incomplete stories, (Those things can go from 5K to 50K words dangerously fast), a balance between Popular Stories + Stories I personaly hunt for, and Stories I find in the recently added tab, or in a group, so I can critisize and learn from experts while giving my imput to novice, and/or authors that are not super popular, Finaly only 25 stories in read later, and 10 stories in my unread favorites folder.
In other news. now I post about things that I can not find, have not seen, and would like to see on FimFiction. (Support for an Interactive Text Adventure Interface *cough cough*) I have been visiting groups and blogs, and trying my hardest to think outside the box, while still keeping room for entertaining ideas. If you are at a loss about what, or how to write a story idea out I will try my best to help out! I am very open in general to helping with less original concepts too, and to help provide a unique perspective. (I will specify more about this in another post)
I discovered how much simple story ideas can be underated, or not exerimented with when I decided to search in groups for storys that used ideas that I have never seen before. When I couldn't find anything. or found that the story deserved more views I got inspired to help build on ideas that seem simple, uninteresting, and/or undeveloped, but actualy have lots of potential! I started posting concepts, questions and theories ranging from simple world building, to unique characters like Sweetie Belle or Shining Armor.
But mostly.... ZELDA CROSSOVERS!
Celestia knows I love me some Zelda..... (You will know too once you see how much I posted in the "Zelda Crossovers forum" hehe )
So a summary "AKA TL:DR version"
I will be taking more time both analysing and reading stories. I am requesting someone else tries my idea for a story when Winona becomes a diamond dog. I will preread it unless it is clop. If I can get this mental anvil off my chest, I will work on a story but with better planning, and working ahead. I vow to use this site with the intention of helping casual authors, reviewing and learning form experienced and/or famous ones, to help develop underated or unexplored characters/concepts through brainstorming, commenting, blogging, and to blow everyone's mind.
I love Legend of Zelda
Cheers!
