The reason I started writing My Little Ranma was due to the dearth of Ranma/MLP crossovers that held my attention. Being one of the classics from the 90s that has been crossed with just about anything/everything under the sun, I found that surprising, and plot bunnies starting forming which I couldn't just dump.
It's been an enjoyable ride for me so far as :
1. A good stretch for the old noggin and active revision/rebuilding of vocab.
2. A valid excuse to go back and re-watch and re-read Ranma.
3. Rewatching MLP:FiM with my kids is no longer a chore, it's research!
At this stage the fic is essentially storyboarded for the next two to three chapters, after which, ideas which I've come up with need to be strung together in a coherent manner. The nice thing is that both Ranma and MLP lend themselves to slice of (crazy) life treatment so plot doesn't necessarily have to be advanced all the time.
Comedy is great and all, but comedy with a goal in mind is even better.
