well i decided i'll use the blog just for the story updates, chapter 2 is about 40% complete and yesterday i forgot my netbook but not my sketchbook so i used some free time i had to start with the cover..
This is just a first try / practice, i still have to practice with the ponies poses, more practice with colours and then put the couch, Fluttershy and Sweetie Belle together. The idea is just like the current one but with Fluttershy and Sweetie Belle sleeping together with Fluttershy covering her with one of her wings, kind of a wing hug.
I also have to see if i can buy a digitizer, as there's no doubt that drawing with the pc is better and cheaper than paper and artistic colour pencils, at least for this kind of things. The couch actually looks better in real life on the paper than scanned, maybe because of the lighting and the paper's texture which isnt so clear on the screen.
Lastly, notice the shadows which didnt exist on the "flash" version and the decorations in between the couch legs. I'll do it in a more realistic way, not full blown real life looking but it will look more detailed than just a flash drawing. The yellow pillow is kind of too bright and the volume needs more contrast but i only had a cadmium yellow pencil i'll have to buy a darker one.
