    Update

Just posting an update regarding the next chapter of Tomb Kings.

The chapter is currently half drafted but I'm afraid I stopped writing as both my grans have passed away in the last few months, and I lost my job so I've not been in the mood to write much as a consequence of it all.

    Family Updated once more!

The penultimate, yes PENULTIMATE chapter of Family is up, I won;t lie, this took some work to draft, write, edit. alter, swap bits around and throughout the whole thing I;ve been plagued with self-doubt.

BUT, its here, I'm happy with the result, and I hope you all are to.

One more chapter to go...I'm going to miss this fic.

Have a preview. · 9:56pm Sep 9th, 2013

Update: I have nearly finished the re-write of Chapter 2 of Fall of Gallopfrey and am also working on the next part of Family as well. With that in mind I want to give you all a short excerpt from the next chapter, as well as get you opinions on it. I'm sort of messing with Reiver a bit but there is also a relevance to what happens which becomes clear later in the story. Bear in mind this is still only a draft and is subject to change.

For those who don't want to read this just yet SPOILER ALERT!!!

-----------------------------------------------------

Slowly, he made his way to the door and creaked it open, the hallway was quiet but he could hear muffled voices drifting upstairs as he slowly made his way down the corridor to the bathroom.

Opening the door Reiver sighed in relief as a wave of cool air washed over him as he slipped inside, the interior was simple, pale yellow and white tiles covering the floor with more faded yellow paint covering the walls. A squat bathtub occupied the centre of the room with a sink and mirror by the back wall.

Spotting a wooden step by the bathtub, which was presumably for Granny Smith, he pushed it to the sink and clambered up. Twisting the old taps he filled it with water and splashed it on his face, sighing in relief as the cold soothed his flushed features..

Looking into the mirror he finally saw the damage several weeks of living rough in the Everfree Forest had done to him. His features were gaunt to the point that his eyes actually looked like they were sinking into their sockets and they held a haunted look, like he had seen the face of death and lived to tell the tale.

‘’You look terrible.’’ He said to his reflection.

‘’You don’t look so hot yourself mate.’’

With a yelp of surprise he fell backward onto the tiles. Taking a moment to collect himself Reiver pulled himself back up to the sink and saw his reflection was smiling at him.

‘’That wasn’t very clever you know.’’ It said

‘’Uh...’’
His reflection sighed.

‘’You know, just telling them the truth would probably be better than pretending you’re someone else, it might even get you home, you’re not having any luck with that book.’’

‘’I can’t tell them about me, they would think I’m nuts...heck right now I think I’m nuts, how are you even talking to me?’’ he asked incredulously.

‘’Simple’’ replied his reflection ‘’your hallucinating.’’

It then pulled out a trumpet and began to play a ragtime dance.

Staring at what should be a humorous image for a second Reivers mind went into a blind panic and he forcefully dunked his whole head into the sink holding it there for a few minutes with his eyes tightly shut.
Emerging with a gasp he stared at the mirror and the damp maned, dead eyed colt that stared back at him.
Moving his heads and pulling a few faces, along with some paranoid sneaking around the mirrors edge he concluded that his reflection was defiantly NOT going to speak to him and voiced the first thing that came to mind.

‘’What have they got me on?’’
