    Why Celestia Must be Lying

    Note that the following sets of computations assume that magic is bound to conservation of energy, and that Equestrian physics closely or exactly match our own. Note that the following sets of computations assume that magic is bound to conservation of energy, and that Equestrian physics closely or exactly match our own. Furthermore, they ignore the possibility of Equestria's sun being a small artificial construct, and are heavily simplified so I could do them in less than an hour.

This data is meant to apply to HiE or PoE stories where it can be assumed that physics are similar enough that humans can survive in Equestria, or po ies oh Earth.

The earth orbits the sun at 2.98×10^4 m/s

If Equestria's sun is approximately the same size as ours (being an average, yellow, k class star) then assuming Equestria's ozone layer and magnetosphere are similar to ours, their sun would have to rotate around equestria at approximately the same distance and speed as earth rotates around the sun.

Because Equestria's sun could not have started out in motion, as there was no one to move it, to find the approximate difficulty of moving equestria's sun, the energy needed to bring it up to 2.98×10^4 m/s should be calculated.

Msun= 1.99×10^30 kg.KE=Msun×Searth^2=1.99×10^30×(2.98×10^4)^2= 1.77×10^39 Joules

To put that into perspective, The sun has a power of approximately 3.86×10^26 Watts. Each year, it produces 1.22×10^34 Joules of energy.

Assuming there was no magical energy lost from converting the sun's energy into magic and equestria was somehow in stasis while all of its star's energy was being used to power a single spell, it would have taken celestia approximatley 10,000 years to gather that much energy, and in the end, what purpose would making their sun revolve around their planet even serve?

Plus, if their planet doesn't rotate, it would have no magnetosphere, which means that everything would have cancer from solar and stellar radiation, and no advanced technology would ever be possible because EM waves fry electronics.

And that is why Celestia lies about her sun moving powers.

Definitely going to use this in a fanfic. I feel as if this would make a great plot thread ^^.

Well, the Griffons haven't invaded yet.:duck::eeyup:

Or maybe they did, but celestia ceded land to get them to keep quiet an paid hush money to any royal guarda who participted.
Or maybe they did, and celestia lead a millions trong army to anihilate their entire species :pinkiecrazy:
