A Miraculous Return, and a Vote

    Hello all!

First off, I just want to deeply apologize for being gone for so long. I mean, posting two stories and then leaving for a year was pretty crappy of me. I shall endeavor to do better. In a way, trying to post more stories is kind of why I'm writing this. I have a couple ideas

Weekly Blog Post 1--How I Met MLP

    Howdy, y'all!

Well, I've decided to do something crazy. I've decided to try and commit to making weekly blog posts. It's mostly because of the endless stream of pony-related thoughts running through my head nearly 24-7. You can think of it like a YouTube blogger making weekly videos, but only for a camera-shy writer. :)

    My First Official Blog Post

Hello all! I just figured out a little while ago how to work the blog posts on this website, so I figured I'd introduce myself. My real name is not open to the public (as I'm paranoid about that type of thing), but most of the people reading this probably know me as Apple Crumble. I am a college student pursuing a career as an English/Earth Science/French teacher (haven't made up my mind yet).

Weekly Blog Post 1--How I Met MLP · 3:23am Aug 21st, 2013

Howdy, y'all!

Well, I've decided to do something crazy. I've decided to try and commit to making weekly blog posts. It's mostly because of the endless stream of pony-related thoughts running through my head nearly 24-7. You can think of it like a YouTube blogger making weekly videos, but only for a camera-shy writer. :)

Anyhow, today's topic is why I like My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, how I was introduced to it, and how I became a full-fledged pegasister.

To begin, let me just say that I tend to stay away from things simply based on their popularity. If something is popular (Justin Beiber, One Direction, Twilight) I inherently dislike it. Actually, the Twilight movies have some base for those emotions, but I didn't like the books even before I read them simply because everyone was reading them. Now, I love the series. But I had to try it first. Nibble the bait; test the waters a bit. And that's exactly what happened with MLP.

I had heard about it through various websites and YouTube comments. At first, I'd been skeptical; after all, what could brightly-colored ponies who teach four-year-olds about friendship and do so while singing possibly give me that Bleach, Naruto, and Soul Eater couldn't? I simply couldn't see the point. Not to mention that it was so freaking popular. However, one night while I lay in bed after finishing an anime I'd been working on, I decided that I had nothing better to do than to check it out. That's when it all started.

I'm actually grateful that I started on the season two finale episode. Had I started in the beginning, with the storybook opening about two princesses and Nightmare Moon, I probably would have made a huge mistake and closed the window. However, I found myself strangely attracted to the world of magic, deception, and oddly cheerful songs. And then came the next episode. And the next. I probably watched three episodes that night, and about four or five every night after that. And a couple during the day. And while I ate lunch. Soon, I had blazed through both the seasons that had been out at that time and was thoroughly disappointed that there were no more. However, I was totally and irrevocably hooked.

Then came what I like to refer to as my "closet period". I still watched episodes, looked at fanart, and read stories, but I did so while closing browser windows every time someone strolled past, or shielding the computer screen so my sister couldn't see the pictures of Applejack on Google Images. I even went to the store with my family and had to keep myself from staring longingly at the shirts with Fluttershy or Derpy across the front. I'm pretty sure my sister suspected my addiction, but if she knew, she didn't let on. And then came that fateful day.

I had actually worn a pony shirt around all day. However, it was underneath a sweatshirt that I'd kept zipped up from dawn until dusk. But I overlooked the fact that I took off the sweatshirt for some odd reason, either to do dishes or because it was just too darn hot. Nevertheless, my parents came in, took one look at my shirt, asked "You like ponies?", got an affirmative response, and walked away. My dad still jokes with me about it, and I won't let on how much it hurts every time he does, but I put up with it; after all, I've never hidden who I was, so why start now?

All that has been said to say this: I am a pegasister through and through, and nothing and no one can change that. I will always be loyal supporters of that multi-colored gang, and am proud of it.

Also, since this is going to be a weekly thing, I'll put up the same message at the end of every post, asking for ideas, questions, or comments. If you have something you'd like me to discuss, whether it's my opinion on an episode, who I think the best pony is, or something about my writing style, go ahead. Anything you can ask, I'll answer (as long as it's not prying or inappropriate). If not, I'll pick a random topic next week.

And with that said, have a good night/day/afternoon/evening, and I will see y'all next week (hopefully)!
