Twain chapter 2 · 4:02pm Aug 20th, 2013
So, like I know that I said that Twain was primarily a horror story but for the life of me, I couldn't keep it that way. This happened for two reasons, first off, unless I wanted to start diving deeper into the sense of fears, horror and death and stuff (probably passing the grimdark horizon along the way) it would be very hard to keep it a horror story at all. Secondly, whether it was still a horror story or not the second chapter was pretty much doomed to be lighter than the first chapter was.
To keep it away fromt he grimdark area I aborted a small humerous arc where Twilight actually managed to faint so she landed IN the blood pool and left an impression of her face in it. While I found this funny in a sense of utter fiasco I felt that my readers wouldn't see it as such and so I altered it, alas poor picture of a pony's head impression in the semi-dried dark red fluid on the floor, you shall be missed even though nobody ever got to see you. (yes, THAT'S what the picture Moss first brought out was originally supposed to be)
Keeping with the "meaningful" names I think I should explain a little about Moss Topper. In the longstanding series "Murder She Wrote" there were two sheriffs (the first one's actor died so they had to replace him PDQ) the second was called Sheriff Mort Metzger, but the first was Sheriff Amos Tupper. That's right, Amos Tupper is now Moss Topper. So, that's where that comes from at least, I think the rest are fairly self explanatory.
Chapter 2 is a setup chapter, we've set some things into motion that were obvious but still needed to be stated (of COURSE the police are going to investigate, but we still need to see it happening) as well as setting some other events (sending messages to other towns) into motion so they will occur later.
To me, horror doesn't mean grimdark, it means that you fear for the characters and in that line of thinking do I still call it a horror story, there WILL be characters that you fear for, there WILL be more attacks and yes, there will be blood.
Which is odd, because I've never seen any horror movies beyond "Jurrassic Park" and "The Birds" ("The Lost World" was comedy, not horror). And I've never been able to bring myself to finish the only horror game I've ever played (Silent Hill 2) but I've seen LOTS of "let's play" of silent hill and other games that have a horror theme so yes, I'm just arrogant enough to think that that qualifies me to make a horror(ish) story.
The real challenge for chapter 2 though? Well, chapter 1 I could rely on Agrol's video to help get me into the mood to help inspire it, but chapter 2 didn't really have anything I could use per se, I just had to make it up as I went and hope for the best. Still, I think it turned out okay. Not my best work but then it was something of a last minute decision to even make the darn thing so, meh, ya get what ya pay for and yalls aren't paying a THING for this so be glad you're getting anything at all!
I'm out, PEACE!
