I've noticed that there are a lot of Human in Equestria stories. Many are crossovers with such properties as Halo, or Dr. Who (there had better be a Dr. Whooves episode in this cartoon's future, just say'n). There's been crossover's with the Marvel and DC comic universes, and even a few Transformers crossovers. One thing this site is surprisingly light on though is GI Joe. Now, that's a crying shame, as GI Joe holds just a long a history as Transformers or MLP. Longer, if you count the 12" figures from the 60's and 70's.
I was a fan of GI Joe way before MLP: FIM came out. I never watched MLP G1 (apparently I didn't miss much, in my personal opinion) but I have seen every episode of G1 GI Joe, and most of the DIC continuation. I enjoyed the computer animated "Spytroops" and "Valor Vs. Venom". "Sigma Six" was a decent anime offering for the first season, then it just got goofy. "Resolute" blew my mind. The live-action theatrical "Rise of Cobra" and "Retaliation" were decent, with "Retaliation" doing everything that should have been done by the first mediocre movie. And then there was The Hub's offering, "Renegades". Frikkin cool. Seriously, if you haven't yet, go check it out. It's nicely animated, with a story that will seem familiar to a certain other fan group. Hint: I pity the fool who hasn’t tuned in to watch the show that starts with "A", and ends with "Team". Marvel Comics, IDW, Devil's Due, all have published just amazing comic book adaptations of our favorite team of Real American Heroes, stretching back from 1982 to the present day.
But by far, my reason for watching the cartoons and movies, my motivation to peruse the comics, my all-time favorite character of them all; Fillies and Gentlecolts, I give you: Snake Eyes!!!! Described as one of the two most dangerous men on the planet, graduated Army Ranger, trained by an ancient ninja clan in the way of Ninjutsu, the scarred, mute commando/ninja is hands down the coolest Joe out of the whole roster. He was sadly underexposed in the G1 cartoon, but boy did he make a comeback in all subsequent adaptations. I first saw Snake Eyes in action in the CGI promotional cartoon "SpyTroops", and I instantly developed a fascination with the character. I was already a fan of martial arts movies (Jackie Chan was and still is one of my favorite actors) I was currently going through a phase where anything having to do with the Special Forces was researched voraciously, and the concept of a special forces commando who was also a ninja, who could shoot knives out of the air and parry bullets with a SWORD was just too cool.
So, with that rather long winded explanation out of the way, I would like to announce that I am currently planning a HiE story involving our beloved Joe. And as a side note, COME ON everypony! GI Joe seriously needs some love! I'm calling you out, Brony's and PegaSisters, get your collective rears in gear and put up some crossover with Hasbro's other greatest property. YO JOE!!!!!!!!!!!!
