Another day in Ponyville; the critters were all about and the birds were singing a sweet melody. Fluttershy walked to the market place to buy some food for her adored bunny Angel. Her soft, yellow fur and beautiful long pink hair gently blew in the cool, spring breeze. Her soft blue eyes were fixed on a pair of doves that seemed to kiss each other. As she entered the market place, a soft smile appeared on her face as she heard the sound of a sonic rainboom. In deep secret, she had a crush on her best friend, Rainbow Dash. She loved her so much, but was always too shy to tell anypony. She blushed, thinking about that rebellious, adventurous, dare-devil, out-going mare. She thought about her so much, in fact, that she hadn't been paying attention to where she was going and ran into one of the snobbish mares that used to bully her. Fluttershy's grocery bag had spilt out, all the food rolling around on the dirty ground. Panicking, she tried to help mare up, only to be surprised with her being pushed away.
"Watch where you're going!" The mare snarled at her, making Fluttershy cringe.
"I-I'm sorry, Moonlight." Fluttershy squeaked. Moonlight, seeing this as an advantage, began to come towards her, crushing her food underneath her hooves.
"What are you going to do about it, Fluttercry?" Moonlight grinned. Fluttershy began to back up, tears rimming her eyes.
"Go on, Fluttercry." She teased. She took her hoof and punched Fluttershy down into the dust, drawing a crowd.
"Cry like you always do, little doormat Fluttercry!" another hit to the ground sent Fluttershy into weeping.
"P-please stop!" She sobbed into the dirt. Suddenly, a rainbow haired, cyan coated mare tackled Moonlight. Fluttershy looked up and realized it was Rainbow Dash, and her heart skipped a beat.
"Don't you DARE talk about Fluttershy like that!" Rainbow Dash said between hits.
"Rainbow Dash, please stop! V-violence is never the answer." Fluttershy yelled to her, tears streaming down her cheeks. At first, Rainbow Dash didn't know if she should keep punching Moonlight, but, for Fluttershy, she walked back over to her. Moonlight got up and gasped.
"Oh Fluttershy, you like Rainbow Dash? Well why don't you just go back to your mare-friend?" That cut Fluttershy down to the bone.
"S-so what if I do love her?"
Moonlight cackled. "How pitiful!"
"F-fluttershy…" Rainbow Dash stuttered. Fluttershy sobbed in embarrassment and ran off to her house. She flung open the door and fell on her bed. Angel gave her a confused look but closed the door and went over to comfort her.
"Fluttershy, open up!" Rainbow Dash knocked on the door.
"N-no." Rainbow Dash burst in anyway. Fluttershy sat up.
"L-look, I know you don't f-feel the same way, and I probably ruined our f-friendship. But it's true, I love you. I-I'm sorry, Rainbow Dash, I'm-" she was interrupted by Rainbow Dash's lips touching hers. A blush spread across their faces as the kiss grew longer. Their lips parted, and Rainbow Dash whispered, "I love you too, Fluttershy. W-will you be my mare-friend?"
"Y-yes. I love you, Dashie!" It was then that their hearts felt whole, like that thing that they were missing inside was finally found. And they were happily in love, and happy together as they lay there, cuddling.
