This post serves to offer more information on my epic I am planning.
Much thought has gone into this, with still plenty more to come. I am not sure when I shall begin the actual writing, but alas, the time will come.
The perfectionist in me has sworn to scrutinize every last detail. I have written several ideas for plot points, characters, locations, and wealth of additional information to be further analyzed. I have the rough makings of the general direction I want this fic to go, but an epic of this caliber requires precision and finesse.
I am writing an origin story.
"Origin of what?" one might ask. One of the most interesting and curiously less detailed elements of MLP:FiM is, in fact, exactly that. The Elements of Harmony. Based on canonical references, we know the Elements of Harmony were discovered by Princess Celestia and Luna. They used them to defeat Discord during his period of Chaos in Equestria. They were also used by the Princisters to defeat King Sombra. Regrettably, Celestia used them to banish Luna on (in?) the moon, and now have fallen under the jurisdiction of Twilight and her friends.
But what happened before all that?
We know next to nothing about how these magical stones of power were created! Were they even created at all? Did they magically appear, or perhaps fall from the stars? How did Celestia and Luna find them and manage to harness their power? What are the origins of Equestria's most formidable defense?
I have searched for fics relating to this query, and have found nothing. Thus, I feel I could do a great service to the fandom by offering my own, personal take on the origins of the Elements.
Expect these fics to be long.
I'm talking 100,000+ words at least, each. This is serious business here.
"Wait, did he say fics"?
Indeed, my usage of the plural noun was not a typo. I have plans to stretch this story out into an epic trilogy. An epic adventure, spanning three iterations. The origins of the most powerful magical force in Equestria must not be understated.
A literary task such as this is no small matter. It will take strides for me to nail down the details.
I am sure my hard work and dedication will be rewarded.
