Just a random thought about humans.

I have been reading a lot of human in equestria fics. And agree with the ponies it's hard to believe that we are the apex predators of our planet. I mean, no fur, scales, tough hides, horns, claws, or any natural weapon or defence. But looking deeper. The reason we are the apex predator is because of our amazing ability to adapt to near any situation, and think our way out of any problem using our high intellect. This translates most into our fighting techniques and our weapons. We can overcome any challenge laid before us, and given enough time can accomplish any feat. And in my personal opinion, we could even devise a way to kill Celestia and/or Luna if we were given enough reason.
What are your opinions of the subject? If you would please comment.
Well. Um... Yeah bye.

I think we are apex predators because of our lack of direction. All of the other animals were forced to use what nature gave them, and keep away from other types; On the other hoof, humans were able to pick up different fields. That ability combined with us being pack animals makes us much more balanced than other races. To use an analogy, you would be hard pressed to do well in D&D if all of your characters were tanks, wizards, or medics. To use a better analogy, try winning a war with only one type of weapon. Now, replace the bear mentioned earlier with a very adaptable pony capable of magic. The ponies on the show have certainly proven to be capable of adapting just as much as humans have, perhaps even more so. With us both being able to adapt to almost any situation I think we are pretty much equal. Next consider the fact that alicorns are, in many fan fics, invulnerable to basically everything. Finally, There is one thing that could end any war, anywhere, anytime. "WAR PARTY" screams pinkie pie
"Be quiet" I yell in response "This is a persuasive essay, nobo..... nopony is able to speak in an essay."
"ESSAY PARTY" countered pinkie
"I rest my case"
"what case?"

In my opinion I don't think Equestrians would be able to adapt very well. What would happen if they suddenly lost control of the weather? Or the Sun and the Moon controlled themselves? Frankly I can't see them adapting very well. They even said the reason why they are afraid of the Everfree is because everything is self sufficient there. Its a normal forest for us... Pretty much. The ponies are control freaks. If an F2 tornado hit them, it would probably be the equivalent of an F5 here. I mean for Pete's sake they couldn't take care of a vine infestation. Discord came back... Everybody flips their head at relatively harmless pranks. I mean they've had 1000 plus years of peace. One little incident and its the end of the world. Equestrians are afraid of change.

That is true, ponies do seem afraid of change, but it might not have always been like that. When they were first climbing the food chain the ponies would have been very different. Right now the only things that we know were happening 1000 years ago were VERY warlike. Between Luna (she was quite hostile, even when she wasn't nightmare moon), discord, sombra, And the nightmare moon incident, I think the ponies would have to know how to handle themselves. Now I think it is simply complacency.

also, sombra spell-checks to sombrero

forget about Celestia and Luna how about magic, we could learn to do magic if we tried.

Why do I not doubt this...

1913175 because magic is a thing that has to have a base to start on, if that makes any sense.

I think we are apex predators because we murder any group of animals that habitually hunts us. As there are no living groups of predators that habitually hunt us, that makes us the apex.
Other species lack the organization to systematically hunt down and kill everything that is trying to kill them in their environment. It's weird to think of language as a deadly weapon, but in a sense it is as it lets us very easily coordinate who/what we want dead.

The only reason this isn't a total 'duh' thing is because most of the killing involved is so many generations removed. But shreds of it exist today. If a predator starts eating humans, we have specialists whose job it is to find out, locate the animals involved and make sure they can't continue. The vast majority of us can live in blissful ignorance of the process, figuring its just natural that nothing would try to eat us.

Animals teach their young what to hunt, carrying on their habits to the next generation. If those habits include hunting humans, they don't have a bloodline for long.
