I take pride in using this site, I am one of the oldest users in fact (smugface).
Waaay back when Gyrobowls were almost new and projects were popping up left and right on ponychan, to try and cope with the upcoming "dry spell" as it was called, I saw this thing start. I saw some thread, where a colour scheme was being requested for a new fan fiction site. I quickly offered a few hexadecimal colour codes, (including one for heliotrope) and set about discussing this interesting new foray.
Quite quickly, knighty had given me a link to a rather blocky looking pink website, that admittedly was rather ugly (I blame myself for that) but it worked. The colour scheme was quickly changed, to both my relief and disappointment, however I had signed up (with some user ID lower than 12) and began tormenting knighty's website with many awkward clicks and presses hunting down as many bugs as possible. Then I began tormenting knighty and ran to him like a little girl, squealing my head off having a scary bug under a log, asking him to squish said bug. Simultaneously I was rather proud of having found the bugs and I do consider myself to have some bragging rights.
The site totally changed soon after, and I signed up again. Why again? because something weird happened and instead of being a little girl(and running to knighty), I just made a new account (although some whining may have been involved). The site was pretty similar to how it is now, but the rating system was different (and a little broken apparently) on used a table to look up the highest rated stories on the site and NSFW stuff was simply outlawed.
Changes after that came far more slowly after the rating system was simplified. I wrote a lot less and decent writers turned up so, my rather mediocre stuff was no longer worthy of any limelight in comparison. Which is fair. Prior to the site becoming the amazing hub of creativity it is today, I actually got fan-mail and a lot of people requested me to finish my fanfics, or at the least add the next chapter. When the fanmail stopped, I kinda felt hopeless and stopped writing (not that I ever wrote too much anyway)
But, the point is, over the past two years, this site has developed. Literally as well as a community, a hub for creativity, a magical place with digital banners. And, I have to say, I'm a little bit teary when I think about it's rather humble beginnings as a blocky pink website with a dozen or so users.
So, here's to the second anniversary of Fimfiction
Only a month left to go yup. Hard to believe
