Adventure is just a romantic name for trouble. It sounds swell when you write about it, but it's hell when you meet it face to face in a dark and lonely place —Louis L'Amour

    Rustle's Blog, Supplimental

So...even for lack of audience, I've added cover art to my 'fic! ...Huzzah! It's a picture I drew one day while unutterably bored at work (kinda like right now...) and my wife, Autumn, finally got it all digitized and beautiful.

Cover art is hard. If anypony who knows reads this, I'd love some pointers as to proper cover-art-getting etiquette.

    Ignosce mihi, Pater, quia peccavi.

I was talking to my brother, and he asked me what I'd been writing lately. Somehow, all my clever evasiveness was seen through. I finally had to admit that I'm...well...here, and doing...well...this.

I know that to y'all that bronyhood is a point of pride, but others, it seems, do not know of our community the way we do. I was roundly mocked.

    My first blog post!

I joined a couple of months ago. I got really into the site and the camaraderie of this brotherhood of writers and readers.

My first blog post!
—not that anypony is listening...

I joined a couple of months ago. I got really into the site and the camaraderie of this brotherhood of writers and readers.

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his ink with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
This site shall gentle his condition:
And gentlecolts in fandom, now a-bed
Shall think themselves accursed they were not here,
And hold their brohooves cheap whiles any speaks
That wrote with us....

And I began to find favorites. Wonderful stories that made me laugh 'til I was sick, and others that made me weep like a filly

I loved every minute of it. Then, once, when I favorited a story, I received a thank-you from the author, and an invitation to write.

So I did.

My first story, The Once and Future Princess, faded swiftly into obscurity (perhaps I'll write about why, later), but the posting of it was a good, if nerve-racking experience.

I wrote the second, Take On Me in two afternoons, on a whim. When I posted it, though, I immediately got a message back from a moderator that said it had...

...failed.

(Hey! there's an alicorn in this picture...who is that?!)

It was like one of those dreams where you're suddenly naked in front of your high-school class, or that feeling when the police lights behind you really do want you to pull over.

It turned out that I'd half-flanked the synopsis, not that I'd violated some ancient law of ponydom, but the adrenaline still hasn't quite worn off.
