Chapter 2 Is Up now · 3:32pm Jun 11th, 2013
I've just posted chapter two of The Apple Tree and I gotta say, this one gave me a bit of trouble. I've had some great output over the past couple of days, almost 10k words in two days ain't bad! And I'll start working on chapter 3 today as well. I'm hoping to continue this excellent output, but I can't promise anything. Several users have helped improve the story through their helpful and insightful comments on the story, for which I'm deeply grateful. These are definitely fairly rough chapters, so it's going to be touch-and-go editing for a while. However, I'm hoping that the quality doesn't suffer too badly as I've started editing as soon as the chapter's done. It's one of the reasons that Chapter 2 was more difficult than the first. I had to rewrite, rearrange, and cut out most of the dialog so that it flowed better.
I think my favorite part of Chapter 2 is Sweetie Belle and Apple Bloom's conversation about love. It was a lot of fun to write and I think I got the innocent-but-not-stupid perspective of fillies who haven't gotten their cutie marks yet. It felt logically consistent with the characters and that always feels good, plus, it made me laugh when I read it back to myself which is a positive.
