The SMITH-CORONA ELECTRA 120
Nice huh?
After pretty much killing my hand with all the writing I've been doing these past few months, I came to the conclusion that if I was going to take this whole thing seriously, I was going to have to up my game. I liked writing by hand because it gave me a chance to really get in there and write without all the distractions that come with writing on a computer. It also helped me get over the usual hangups that would often leave me laboring over a single paragraph far longer than I should. The only drawback is that every time I went on one of my week long writing benders, I was always left with a sore wrist and a callous on my thumb about the size of a skittle.
So a few weeks back I figure, when it comes to writing on either a computer or by hand, why not just split the difference? That's where I got the idea to start writing all my stuff on a typewriter. It's got all the comfort of a keyboard and let's me focus on the writing without all the distractions.
Seriously folks, if you want to bring your writing to a whole new level, put aside the computer and get yourself one of these. As a writer it'll probably be the best decision you'll ever make, I guarantee it.
Dude, how... retro!
Seriously, I've been thinking a lot of how distracting my PC and using Word to write can both be. Even going back to quickly correct a misspelled word can take me out of the stream of thought, and that damned squiggly red line is designed to grab your attention until it's taken care of. Then there's everything about the Internet connection to distract me.
Did you know that George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones) writes on a DOS PC using WordStar 4.0? I can totally see why. I have a 12-year-old Athlon Slot A PC I'm considering using as a word proc, and just leave it disconnected from the net.
Anyway, sorry to blab. Nice going!

Cool I love retro!
Funny, I always figured George R.R. Martin for the typewriter type. Maybe that's the reason it takes six years for him to write a full volume. Learn something new every day, I guess.
Yeah being able to disconnect is probably the one thing that really made the difference in how much I was able to produce.
Its a very nice and handsome/pretty/sexy piece of machinery.

Thank you! You're making my typewriter blush!
