OK so, last time I checked, with all the range of FIMfics accross the Internet, including crossovers, alt universe, clop, CP clop (as in fillies being raped, which to me is written child p0rn, and not my preference in fics), I've read plenty that seemed out of character. Rather than bitch at the authors because I didn't like their stories, I simply took a moment to at least appreciate their hard work, though not personally liking it, and moved on.
I don't see why people feel the need to bitch about my stories, when there is WAY more messed up stuff out there. Out of character? The whole FANDOM is out of character in a broad spectrum of ways, from good, cute, cuddly to plain creepy, and murderous. That's why MLP has so many fans as a lot of people stay for the fandom and contribute to it. Gear, where are YOUR fics??
I didn't see anyone bitch about Twilight Blood Pact where she becomes a vampire and sucks the blood out of her enemies. Out of character as in we added so much more to these ponies than Hasbro ever would. Here's out of character: Big Mac raping and killing the CMC's in Sweet Apple Massacre; Pinkie Pie killing RD in Cupcakes. Cheerilee killing her students in C's Garden; Princess Celestia fleeing Equestria with Twilight in some other fic I read on here.
EVERY FIC in some form or another is alt universe even if canon or off-canon. So, to all the people who find it necessary to bitch and complain about my creativity and my "twisted beliefs" consider such and such of other, more deranged people with more twisted beliefs who wrote far creepier shit than my fics. How about the "sick, twisted beliefs" of whoever who wrote Rainbow Factory, or Sweet Apple Massacre?
Seriously, calm down people. *cough* Blueskydreams *cough* Gear. Clop gets free reign and everything else doesn't? I call bullshit on that.
I meant to add I have nothing against clop or cloppers. I'm just not into clop. Yes, I was creeped out by the fics I read but i enjoyed and appreciated how messed up they were. And I'm citing those stories as they're well known at least by name.
I know you posted this blog several weeks ago, but I thought I'd weigh in with my opinion on the subject.
The reason that clop, crossovers and gore get a pass, while this doesn't, is because they have something that appeals to a niche crowd. Since the general audience doesn't care about that niche appeal, they just ignore it for the most part. In addition, A lot of those stories are so over the top, they can't be taken seriously.
This is a more of a character-driven narrative. You're taking a popular character, twisting her way out of character, and not including any of the overtop/niche appeal that other fics like Cupcakes have. In addition, while AJ is out of character, the story is more or less grounded in its own logic, so what you end up with is a story that makes sense given the context of the narrative, but not within the context of canon or most of fanon. Its kind of disturbing and deeply unpleasant to read.
Its also sort of fascinating, hence why I favorited it to track it, but still downvoted it anyway.
