You remember how you said you hated the idea of Alicorn Twilight, then when MMC aired, you suddenly started liking it? I think you should apply the same method here.
Be cautious, but don't be too skeptical or judgemental. You could always do what I did and find a sub-fandom to enjoy. It's easier to enjoy cause the source of the sub-fandom rarely changes.

You know what, I think that was someone else. I definitely know that Wanderer D was hate, hate, hating Twilicorn until the episode aired, and now he's okay with it. For all I know, you may not have been a hater of Alicorn Twilight, and I might be thinking of him or some other convert.
By the way, did you catch the school age character appearances? I saw Snips, Snails, and the CMC for sure. Not really sure about anypony else, though.
