I realized something just now when I was thinking back on Rainbow Factory, one of the first fics I had read, and why I found it disturbing. This is what I realized:
It isn't the gore, clop, or any other adult topic that pops up in the story. but how it is used that gets me. I can enjoy clop or gore if has a distinct purpose and it aids the story. It is the story topic that gets me. If the idea of the story, like in the case of Rainbow Factory, is just too dark and is a really creepy concept, it bothers me. There are stories that I have read that have had darker themes, or even themes that would make me kind of uncomfortable, but they were great stories for the way they used the material and the kind of idea that the story covered. I don't really care for fics that were overly dark without any real purpose to them. If they tell a good story that used the darkness as a tool to progress and give the story a all-around fullness, It can be good.
Just thought I would put my feelings down.
Now for some music and story:
Great piece of music, and while rapping isn't something I usually like, this works because it is simple, at least to me, and it has a story that is beautiful, unlike the rap that I have heard that blares out of peoples care that is basically about sex and drugs and is to loud.
Foal Necromancer
This story is pretty good. It has good action, made me laugh quiet a few times, and is pretty entertaining. Just thought I would mention it.
Just to be social at all this week (on Fimfiction), what prevents CMT from disturbing you like Rainbow Factory did? I've realized a few months ago that I over-OVERemphasized the amouts of gore in chapter 4, so I don't think I'll put so much gore in future chapters. As for right now, I haven't had any progress on the fic for awhile, but because (I think) of the hiatus from CMT lasting from November or December to January, I think the way I've written the gory scenes has decreased in the description and the ability to be visualized as well as chapter 4's. I'm hating myself for delaying the progress so much when I have had the time and just wasted all of it. I know what you're going to say to this, but I just wanted to let all that out.
I usually hate American pop or rap. The only rapper I listen to is Eminem, but I can't stand anyone else because of the overemphasis on sex and all of that, as weird as it is to say that when Eminem has a few songs with sexual themes (a lot of them). I usually listen to more JPop or rock and dubstep, so when people talk about some pop song, a lot of the time I have no idea what they're talking about.
1065994 The subject of CMT, while gory and creepy, is less creepy than Rainbow Factory. The whole concept of Rainbow Factory is a creepypasta(if the term fits here) to me. The idea that Cloudsdale kills all of its pegasi that are unsuccessful and give it a bad name and turns them into rainbow materials is a bit creepier than CMT to me. It is also the whole process of getting to the end of it. CMT is creepy, but not as creepy. It is not like it has gotten to the point where there is no hope. The idea in CMT feels to me like there is a chance they will come out of this ok. There isn't any hope in Rainbow factory. Like the story says, nobody leaves the factory. The only one that does get to leave is Rainbow Dash, and you can see what it did to her. Rainbow Factory is allot darker and there is no sense of hope to me. It is just the overall feel of Rainbow Factory to me.
1065994 And don't hate yourself. I haven't really done any work on my first fic. I still haven't gotten through the beginning. I haven't worked on it in weeks, if not a month or more. I will probably get to it, but probably not until after finals next week.
