Human Nature: Evil or Good? · 9:53pm May 6th, 2013

So...
Yeah. I've been thinking a lot about human nature lately. It's not an easy topic to discuss. Many believe that man is inherently good (even some Christians I've talked to) , others evil.
I believe that human nature is inherently evil, and here's why. When man was first created, he sinned. Not because he didn't know what he was doing, or because he was unaware of the consequences, but because he WANTED to. He willfully took matters into his own hands, and took of the fruit. Then, instead of taking responsibility for his actions, he blamed it on "this woman you gave me"!
When an unsanctified (from the root word sanctus, Latin for "holy") man is presented with a choice, his human nature takes over. He will, unless his moral code dissuades him, do the thing that will benefit himself most. Take for example, Adolf Hitler, Kim Jong Un, and the like. Hitler sought to further his personal agenda: to wipe out those who either opposed Him, or didn't benefit him: the Jews, the black people, the mentally incapacitated, etc.
Kim Jong Un is arguably a sorry excuse for a piece of human flesh. he's arrogant, he's selfish, and he's imperfectly Communist (perfect communism: share and share alike; perfect if such a thing as carnal, selfish human nature didn't exist). Many other examples of such imperfect human beings appear throughout the tomes of history.
I guess what I am trying to say is that although we as humans deserve eternal punishment, Christ stepped down to grant us something that we could NEVER (and our conception of eternity doesn't do it justice) earn: the chance at eternal life, to be with Him forevermore.
I know many would say "Well, if I was Adam, I wouldn't have done that. I would have done what God said to." To that I say "No, you would have done the exact same thing. So would have I. That is my - our - nature.
We, undeserving beings of God's free gift of salvation, owe God more than an hour and a half during mass, or Sunday service, or whatever we as Christians practice as a weekly discipline.
So as we live our lives, let us reflect upon the words of Saint Paul. "Whether you eat or drink, or whatEVER you do, do ALL unto the glory of God." (I Corinthians 10:31)

Amen, and bless you all.

I agree with this totally. My youth pastor recently gave a sermon of sorts that said man was good and I called him on it.

Oh man I would have a heyday arguing with that! My old youth pastor did that too. I told him he was wrong and proved it. Sounds like we're very much alike :)

I agree, in some of your posts in the Christian groups it sounds like we have similar views.
Friends then? Doesn't matter I guess, we are Christians so we're already brothers in the faith.

definitely, man. I've never had online friends since most of the friends I have are real life friends, so this is kind of a new thing to me. But yeah, friends and definitely brothers in the faith. Looking forward to having some good conversations! I must say our type is rare. Christian bronies are a "rarity" (you see what I did there?) in this fandom, and Christian bronies who hold a conservative worldview are even rarer. Its nice to finally find one!

Oh, and thanks for the favorite! I've been on vacation with no wifi, so I haven't been able to upload the chapters I've been working on. Heading back today though!

Cool, I can't wait to see the updates. :yay:
Nice pun there :raritywink:, it is sad that there are so few of us.:pinkiesad2:
When I'm done with my current story I want to work on an AU. Where some of the main characters represent the fruits of the spirit, and "the elements" are the armour of God.
Right now its just an idea though, it will be a HUGE undertaking to write.

Don't worry about it. I had no idea what I was getting into either, but it's turning out to be a little easier than I thought. If you've read my bio, you know I want to shake this fandom to its core. I'm sure ill get better as I continue writing, but I plan to submit My Little Redemption to EqD after I'm done.

Thanks, it will be a lot of work.
I look forward to the day when you do shake the fandom to its core. (You totally can do it.)
It will be a sight worth seeing.

Well, this is my mission field. :ajsmug: Most people don't want to consider looking at the fandom, and even fewer are aware of the actual demographics. :pinkiesad2: Most are atheist, or agnostic, at least. But again, this is my mission field. God willing, it WILL happen. :scootangel:

It warms my heart to read things like this. Bless you, my friend.
