How I became a Brony.

Ok so I've been watching a bunch of pony youtube videos and stumbled across a few bronification stories, and i randomly decided that I'll just go ahead and post my story on here because why the hell not right?

I was never one of those people who was always on the internet and I didn't even know what a meme was until like 2 years ago (I'm 19 BTW) so my story has nothing to do with seeing trends on forums or anything like that, my introduction to bronydom was a very long process. This is the first major fanbase i've ever really been a part of and I used to think that people that did fanfic's were the lowest form of nerd (sorry I know differently now). Hell I didn't even know what an internet troll was until last semester (well at least the term that is).

Anyways, I don't remember when I first found out about bronies I think it came up in passing or something but I've known about them for a long time and quite frankly I didn't care. Occasionally I would make jokes about them when I would see someone wearing an MLP shirt walk by and i always thought it was pretty weird, but I was never a brony hater, just thought you guys were well weird. It remained like that for quite a while too, and then I found out that one of my close friends was himself a brony. I was kind of taken by surprise a little as well I had never to my knowledge actually talked to a brony I've just seen them around but we've been friends for a while so I was kinda like whatever and we remained friends no big deal. He occasionally asked me and my best friend if we wanted to try My Little Pony as he assured us it was really good. We just kinda waved him off and said we just weren't into that kinda thing and then we would all continue to play Halo on ridiculous settings and shit. So I stayed completely oblivious to this massively growing fanbase as I lived in GA and if your from GA you should know that unless your in Atlanta at a convention its nearly impossible to find another Brony.

Finally i graduate Highschool and i get accepted to the University of Hawaii and I leave that dump (I dont like GA). I move to Hawaii where I've always dreamed of living and well things are different here thats for damn sure everything is better. Anyways I make some friends and eventually one of them asks if I want to try DnD with them at another friends place. Now for a while now I've been wanting to try DnD like bad, me and my brony friend back home tried to find a game to join but it never worked out. So I jumped at the chance and went with him to this guys apartment. First thing I noticed upon walking into the door was an MLP poster hanging on the wall in the living room. I was like 'Well now they are certainly open about being bronies aren't they.' I decided to ignore it and go ahead and play DnD which was a lot more fun than i was expecting!

So a few weekends pass and then one day there are a bunch of people over at the apartment and some of them start to ask about MLP I ignored it, then my friends say "Why don't we show you an episode and we can show you why we like it." I was already down there and it wasnt like there was anywhere better to go so i decided why the fuck not i'll watch it too there had to be some reason all these people liked it right? So they turn on Party of One and I thought it was hilarious and when pinkie went full insane I was like "what the fuck? they show this to kids!" After they finished that episode, they then turned on Lesson Zero and I nearly died of laughter when fluttershy performed her fatality on the bear. Needless to say I was now willing to give this show a chance.

Surprisingly though a few days later i watched the first 3 episodes i believe and i didn't like it. Straight up. Next time i went over i told them that i watched a few episodes and while those two were hilarious the show really wasn't for me. Plus I still felt uncomfortable watching ponies. After a few weeks went by I started thinking about the show again and I felt compelled to give the show a second chance. Well... two days later I had watched every episode of season 1 and season 2 just in time for the premiere of season 3. My mind was fuckin blown it took me a week to come to terms with the fact that i had just watched two seasons of ponies in 2 days. The worst part was that i couldn't stop watching the episodes! I was falling behind in school work because of ponies it was actually pissing me off. Me and MLP started off with a love hate relationship.

My starting line up for the mane 6 after first watching the show:
1) Pinkie Pie
2) Rarity (to their surprise, they didn't like Rarity very much)
3) Rainbow Dash
4) Applejack
5) Fluttershy
6) Twilight Sparkle (I actually thought she was more of a bitch than rarity)

I actually couldn't stand the singing at first and it wasnt until the Easy speedy cider squeezy 6000 that it actually started to grow on me. Sense than a lot has changed especially sense i started writing on here which is something that i never thought i would be doing honestly. I remember i found this website after sometime when i started to get the idea of shipping rainbow dash and AJ together after watching fall weather friends for the umpteenth time. I was honestly really embarrassed with myself for reading anything on here. After a while i started to read new stuff and then i got into my obsession with princess luna and well thats around the time that i decided to try my hand at writing my own fic which was a deadpool crossover which was absolutely horrendous, it was supposed to be a one shot at first with no real premise or story to it, but then i started to come up with new ideas and started expanding on the story until well now. I have sense taken down the original chapter that i wrote as a one shot as i plan on doing a rewrite to accommodate the story better. I also have two other stories on the way that are more serious one of which I'm going to try and get on equestria daily, as i have gotten really good reviews by everyone that has beta read the work.

One of my favorite things to do now is watch the analysis videos on youtube of all the MLP episodes and such, and i am a big fan of Bronycurious's work and more recently Antony C. I actually would kind of like to do my own analysis videos more along the lines of what TheoryBrony does as I like to create my own theories of the show and the possibilities behind it but I'm no good at video editing or animation or any of that shit so meh I'm fine here. Well anyways thats it for my story. I'd actually be surprised if anyone actually reads this. HA!
