1. The Last Pegasus will not be finished. When my laptop first died I lost all that I'd written for the last chapter. So I got a new laptop and got about seven pages in, all along saving all my files for backup onto a flash drive. Or so I thought. New laptop tried to kill me. Twice. So a NEW new laptop had to be purchased. All files transferred over from flash drive, discovery! Last chapter for Last Pegasus and the ENTIRETY or something I had been working on for myself not on flash drive. All gone. No more. Bye bye. So I am done with Last Pegasus. I don't have it in me to start writing it again for a third time. Sorry to anyone who was following it. I just can't...it makes me angry just thinking about it.
2. For those following Harbinger Rising, keep reading. For those who are not, you are free to move about the internet. I did this on my dA account in hopes of helping people keep characters straight. I know, I went to work on Last Pegasus yesterday and was so ticked. Even more so about the story I was working on for myself. That one I...ugh. I hate computers.
Even if the computer died, it's usually possible for the data to be recovered if you take it to a data recovery place. The good ones are able to get data from ridiculously screwed up hard drives--I remember reading about how one laptop was so far underwater they had to use scuba gear to retrieve it, and the data recovery company was *still* able to get everything from it.
The bad news is those services tend to not be cheap, and I don't know if you'd want to pay a few hundred dollars just to get some fan fics from the computer. Still, if there's anything else you wanted off the hard drive, it's worth considering...
Be sure if you go that route that you go with a reputable one, though. I've heard good things about DriveSavers and Gillware.
