Hey, I just wanted to say a few things revolving around the new story I posted. Am I surprised how much negative votes it's getting? Not really. Am I hurt? A little but not much. The reason why is because it was made for the hell of it after I made her. I had no intentions of making it a full blown FanFic revolved around her. Well some stuff led to another and that's what happen. Have I learned anything from this? Yes acually... well not really cause what I'm about to say I knew for awhile.
Brony fandom when it comes to art, stories, music, ect...:
If it's revolved around a pony from the show they all know and made with little to no effort. They're ok with it.
You make something that is completely original with characters and stuff. OC for example. Instant no and gets hit hard negatively in the fandom unless it's from someone well know like Mic or Mando.
It's because of this, you guys, why I always contemplate of just leaving the fandom and deleting everything I own towards the MLP Fandom (Art, stories, Ask Tumblrs, ect...) You guys, in my honest opinion, don't know how to be open to new idea's and characters.
Now I'm not saying that story was the best, no, but I put a lot more work into it then I did No More Crusading and a lot of my art sketches and shit on my dA and Tumblr.
Or maybe it's being downvoted because.... well... it's just not as good as you think it is.
But please feel free to still think you're right.
1046656Like I said, it's not the best. But it's not just me. I've gone on Derpiboo.ru and I've seen pictures drawn be people of the a pony from the Mane 6 that was horrible yet upvoted a bit. Where as I see another picture of someones OC that I can tell put work into it yet is downvoted like crazy.

Fact of the matter is, your story is not that good and not that interesting. That's why I voted it down. And I don't care if there's no member of the mane six in it. If the story is good, then I'll upvote. It if isn't I'll downvote.

Actually, most of us are open to new ideas and characters. There are many stories that feature an OC, such as "Snowdrop" on YouTube and "Nyx" from Past Sins (Okay, probably not the best example), that have received a ton of praise. The thing is, a lot of us are very critical people. We look to see if the story has what it takes to be a good story. This involves studying not only its grammar, spelling, and punctuation; but also the elements that make up a good story. For example, some elements include pacing, story progression, character development, figurative language, the amount of detail, etc.
Of course, most of us do. Some of the others prefer to either hate on it 'cause they're jealous or for some random, unexplained reason.
If a certain story or piece of artwork has received a lot of praise but you beg to differ, that's totally fine. Just make sure your reasoning is logical. Your reasoning behind your disapproval may influence others to agree. Even if you're wrong, you are still just giving your opinion on it. Don't be afraid to go against the odds.
Also, don't be afraid of being wrong. In fact, be grateful if you are wrong. That just means that you've been saved from accepting an invalid opinion. Of course, that does not mean that if someone says you're wrong, you should automatically go with their side. If you still disagree with their argument, then keep your own opinion.
Also, always look for improvement. Even if someone says that your fics is amazing, look for ways to make it better. If someone did not approve of your story and gave a logical reason as to why they disapprove, look into it and see if they can help out.
Please stay in the fandom, man. If you love MLP: FiM, then you're in the fandom! You don't have to contribute anything to be a fan, unless you either want to be recognized in the fandom or you're just doing it for fun!
If you want to write a story that will be loved by everypony but may need some tips, then seek some assistance. Bronies are there to help you. After all, ponies are the one thing we all have in common. There are groups out there that are dedicated to helping Bronies write successful fics. If you want, check into this group. Do not take this group as an insult. They are serious about helping Bronies become successful writers and will do a lot to ensure that they get what they need.
