Who likes the idea of Luna fighting to defend Celestia and imprison Nightmare Moon? Who likes the idea of Celestia losing her shit so badly over the thought of Luna being hurt by Nightmare Moon that she basically turns into a Super Saiyan of the sun? Who likes the idea of Nightmare Moon as her own seperate entity, having imprisoned Luna and vampirically draining her powers to fight Celestia and bring about eternal night?
Let's have a sneak peek, shall we?
"So I'll stay in the darkness with you..." Celestia's fluttering eyes slid shut, and the Alicorn fell limp, her crown tumbling away as her head hit the dirt. Her outstretched hoof, barely visible in the deep, unnatural miasma surrounding her, glowed with the faintest bit of solar energy; all she could spare for her sister. As she fell, her hoof, sparked, the light dimmed, but barely held on until it fell against Luna's side.
Awareness and memory flooded into Luna, images flashing through her mind, her eyes glowing white. In an instant she surged to her hooves, into the air, hovering, power crashing off her, the power of the sun, the power of her sister. The power of the night and the stars, the power of the moon. The power of a goddess. She was limned with her own power, glowing and pulsing deep purple through light blue around her, sparkling and glowing. Nightmare Moon turned, eyes wide, and her jaw dropped. She began gibbering incoherently, terror etched in every line of her body. Luna didn't give her a chance to say a word.
The Goddess of the Night swung her head, searching. "The stars!" Her glow brightened, and she snarled. "The Moon!" Her gaze locked on to Nightmare Moon, a Princess to her subject, an adult to a misbehaving foal. A headspony to a criminal. "They have all been BLOWN OUT!" Only deep darkness surrounded them, the landscape barely visible. The sky was an inky sheet.
"You left me in the DAAAAAARK!" Luna lowered herself to the ground, lifting her head into the air, closing her eyes. The glow surrounding her body moved, focussed itself around her horn, as the alicorn gathered her might. Nightmare Moon went on the attack instantly, sensing her only chance as Luna lowered her defenses. She would later curse herself for a fool.
The false Queen charged her magic and fired, a bolt of coruscating energy aimed directly at the heart of the Princess of the Night. Luna didn't even flinch. her head whipped down and her eyes snapped open, pulsing white, barely restrained energy. With a quick flick of her horn, she swatted aside her opponent's spell easily, her eyes never leaving the terrified mare's face. Slowly, implacably, she began to walk towards Nightmare Moon.
Screaming in defiance, in rage and fear, the false Queen charged and fired, charged and fired, first aiming to kill, then to slow, even to escape, anything! Luna breathed heavier with each blast, her features darkening, her snarl deepening. The image of her sister, unconscious and for all she knew dead, flashed through her mind, and she howled.
Swat!
"No DAWN!"
Swat!
"NO DAY!!!"
Swat!
The darkness pressed down on her. No sunrise on the horizon. No moon in the sky. No stars. No light. She was Nightmare Moon's prisoner no longer!
"I'm always in this twilight!"
She deflected a bolt directly back at the dark alicorn, sending the terrified mare skittering along the ground, armour gouging troughs in the dirt. Lowering her head, Luna braced herself, and scraped one of her front hooves in the dirt. Cosmic energy, the power of the sun, moon and stars, swept in waves from her horn, covering her body, generating a field around her, a cone of energy flowing down her form.
In the distance, Nightmare Moon staggered to her hooves, eyes focusing blearily on Luna. The Princess of the Night's face tightened, and she took a deep breath. Waves of magical energy pulsed off her, compressing the air around her, beating at Nightmare Moon's senses. The Princess began to glow.
"In the shadow, of your heaaaaaart!"
With one explosive pulse of magic and one powerful flap of her wings, Luna launched herself at Nightmare Moon like a comet, the ground tearing apart in her wake. The two alicorns collided with a thunderclap, Nightmare Moon being torn off the ground and into the sky in Luna's grasp as the Princess angled upward, flaring off into the sky with a deathgrip on her opponent. Still outlined by the power that was her birthright, Luna had a tail of energy following her.
Gah, that'll do for now. I started and I didn't want to stop. I have this whole thing figured out!
Basically, I was listening to this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2EIeUlvHAiM) and I couldn't shake the idea of Luna singing it, which evolved into almost a war-cry against Nightmare Moon, which evolved into a whole story I have kinda half-worked out in my head about the struggle for control over the Sun, Moon and Stars. The way I figured it, Nightmare Moon was a seperate being who imprisoned Luna and used her power to achieve her own ends. Celestia finds out, almost dies freeing her, and Luna uses her own powers to imprison Nightmare Moon in the moon. The catch? Luna is the jailor.
My own kinda challenge is to see if I can write the entire story using only the lyrics from the song.
