Info on Element of Forgiveness · 4:05am Mar 19th, 2012
For those of you wondering, yes, I am working on Element of Forgiveness. The next chapter will hopefully appear sometimes between the 19th and 25th. So there's that.
Really, I just wanted to talk about what I want to do with the story. What my inspiration was. What my idea for it is. The such.
We all have our moments of weakness. We all make mistakes, but they don't define us.
I am smart enough to know that I'm stupid. Really, everyone is stupid in their own way. I'm smart enough to know that I can make mistakes, and I'm smart enough to know I can be wrong.
But I believe that all people have the capacity for good in them. Maybe even, all sane people, and even some insane ones depending on how you use 'insane,' even lean towards it most of the time.
I don't like stories that portray humanity as evil, or really, any story that portrays any single race as evil, though of course there are exceptions.
So yeah. I believe people aren't evil, but they're not exactly good. I like to think the average person would rather do good instead of evil, but that's just preference. I believe even the worst of people have some good traits in them.
Of course this doesn't mean we should just roll over when someone evil threatens us. That's silly. We have the right to self defense, after all.
Where was I? Oh, right.
I was inspired to make this story after reading another story called Boast Busted, I believe. The author's name escapes me, sadly. The story was basically a sort of reverse world. Celestia went bad instead of Luna, Trixie became the Element of Magic instead of Twilight, and Twilight was her antagonist.
This made me think. What if all we knew from a person, everything we saw of them, was their bad side? Their moment of weakness?
Thus, the Element of Forgiveness was made. A story that recognizes the evil of both side, and tries to show that good wins out in the end. At least, that's what I'm trying to do. The story is all about how we all have moments where we are at our worst. In the future, I wouldn't mind doing a sequel with the Flim Flam Brothers. But that's another day.
Anyways, my silly talk is done with. You know why I made it, what the morale is, and where I want to take it someday.
Now comes the hard part. Finishing it. See ya then, folks.
