I'm fed up with Fed up. · 4:27pm Apr 1st, 2013
I'm sorry, I can't take the pressure. There have just been to many people trashing my story. I need a break. It started a while ago, some guy said Twilight was OP. Come on, how could that be? Twilight's talent is supposed to be magic, right? They said she was out of character. I did my best on making her fit the criteria of a proper storyline, how could you do this to me?!? And why, oh why, do these people think that Twilight is somehow in love with the princess simply because she spends as much time as she can around her? I hate it. Stop shipping ponies together. I just want my fic to be the way it is. When I listen to you people, you complain that I'm pandering; when I don't, you say you hate the story! I just can't win. I'm quitting while I'm still ahead, and while people still like me at least a little. Don't expect me to return any time soon.
Many other writers have had that problem. From what I have seen, they will often write the story how they want and let people say what they like. You are the writer. Unless you want people to help you write the story, don't give in. If people don't like the story the way you write it, who cares? For things plot related you have the final and probably only say. If someone makes a comment about characterization being off, look objectively at what the person is saying, and see if it is true. I'm going to be brutally honest with you right now, so please don't get angry, and look at what I'm going to say objectively. You are an okay writer. Your writing is often fundamentally sound, but can be improved. I think you show promise as a writer, and could make some very good writing with enough practice. However, right now you are at a writing level where, I would guess, the average person who reads your story either can, or thinks they can write better than you. Some of them may be correct in thinking that, and some are probably thinking too highly of themselves. I followed you because you looked promising, and Fed Up had an original story. Any English professor will tell you the only way to get better at writing is practice. Writing fanfics is a good way to practice originality, and if you find a good prereader, technique. If you are going to sack Fed up, I would recommend you talk to some other writers, perhaps find a group, and try to coauthor a story with a good writer.
Twilight isnt in love with Celestia??!?!? Blasphemy!!!!!
And WE ARE GOING DOWN WITH OUR SHIP!!!!
On a serious note (just in case this isnt just a poor joke) always do what you want and that will still attract readers, if you give in to a few that will just upset people, more likely because you gave someone else what he wanted more then because they dont like what you wrote.
Though I know you have already made your decision to quit writing the story, I would like to say that I found the story to be well written and a fun read.
That's a shame. I really liked the story.
Those people should just not read the story then. I really enjoyed reading the story, because it was different. It's the risk we all take when we do something original. People won't like it for sure, but there will always be a group of people who will enjoy reading what you wrote. What you need to focus on is those people who like it, and ignore the people who blast it, UNLESS they have ways for you to improve the story. If you do this, you will feel better as a writer.
For the third time, I liked Fed Up, and I will be waiting for you to pick it back up. I hope this didn't sound cheesey, because it did to me.
