I'm Zyr1987 (Rhymes with sir) and I'm currently the only person to write stories about Fleur de Lis to any great extent. I also ship extensively and have been taking to combining the two in my stories

Tech headaches, story progress, and a review of Kindness in Dancing · 11:26pm Mar 30th, 2013

Well, first off, I'm typing this from my netbook, in the first time I've extensively used it in about six months (I stopped using it after the battery started going. I'll be buying a new battery soonish), and, well it took a goodly number of restarts and a massive number of updates to get this thing useable again. 38 updates to Windows (with three restarts between them), two restarts for AVG updates, one for an adobe update, and for some reason a full restart to update Libreoffice from 3.4 to 4.0 (yeah, it's been that long), so in total, I restarted this thing seven times just to get it back to an optimal state.

Oh, and on my other computer (this one actually affected my writing), I updated from Libreoffice 3.6 to 4.0, and ended up being a derp, since I installed it so it would have to run from my jump drive (I wanted to install it so I could run it on any computer from the jump drive, but I was an idiot and ended up having to run it from the jump drive on that computer). A full uninstall and reinstall later, I had it fixed, and was back to writing The Model Caretaker (oh, and I did install Libreoffice to my jump drive: the portableapps version designed to be useable from there).

Fanfic progress

It seemed to be going so well, before I threw out my second attempt. The first crack at the latest chapter left me at a dead end five hundred words in, so I threw it out, and started on a second attempt. The problem was the second attempt was offering a huge amount of useless and annoying info that I could compress into a much smaller format, and since I was (and still am) writing six hundred words a day at this point (much faster than before), and had 2,300 words written, which meant three days of progress thrown out. That was the day before yesterday, and I was only able to get 200 words out that night due to the libreoffice debacle I put myself through. Oh, and I just threw out all of yesterday's work for being crap, which slowed things down, again, but I should be able to get back into the groove pretty quickly.

Anyway, the big change I made to increase writing speed is I now have Libreoffice open to the document I'm working on at all times, instead of just at night, after a long hot bath.

The one thing I will reveal about the next chapter is Luna is still in Ponyville, and will need a stiff drink not long into the chapter.

Review: Kindness in Dancing

Before we begin, I would just like to say a few words about how these reviews will be done: They will be stories that have less than 50 likes and disikes total, the likes have to outnumber the dislikes by a ratio of 2 to 1, the story must have multiple chapters if it is incomplete, and it must be something I enjoyed, or was requested as a review, So, on to business.

The premise of this story is simple enough, while in Canterlot for the Grand Galloping Gala, one year after the events of "The Best Night Ever," three of the mane six (Rarity, Fluttershy, and Rainbow Dash), spot a dancer on the edge of the plaza they're standing in. As they move closer to watch, Fluttershy becomes rather taken by her, so Rarity decides to see if said dancer (Fleur de Lis) would like to go on a date with her.

Fleur agrees and, the next day Fluttershy travels to Canterlot to see her on the date. The date goes off quite well (and, weirdly, in a rather d'aww inducing manner), and they set up another one. Unfortunately, that's where this story dies. For what it's worth though, i's a fine read, that I would rate as 8/10
