I'm on my iPod and the new layout is even worse then on the computer, hopefully it'll start looking fine again since this is the only place I read stories from. But yeah, the update came completly out of left-field.
It literally happened less than 24 hours ago, too. Despite the major change in layout, it turns out there are some benefits. And then some other changes which so far haven't proved themselves beneficial to me.
Though I still wish Knighty would move the feature box back where it was...

924937 One of the problems with it being there is that I never actually look at it anymore, because when I open FiMFiction, I skip straight to notifications or unread chapters. So, yeah, it would be nice if it came back.
924944 Exactly, I've only looked at it like three times since it moved, everytime being when I accidentally clicked the banner when I tried to go to notifications
924998 Oh god, yeah, same for me. And also when I scrubbed the unread chapters URL down so I could actually log in, instead of having a page full of white space.
Why did Knighty think that moving it was a good idea?
925051 Probably because of the banners themselves, it would have covered up a lot of the content of all the banners he added then. And a lot of people were complaining about the quality of the stuff that made the feature box (mostly out of jealousy, a bit out of real problems). It was a compromise.... but I actually liked it, so I hate how it went. I thought it was a great way to find new stories and new authors.
It's some new site update (duhurrr obviously), but it happened yesterday after a bit of 502 issues knighty managed to create somehow. It takes a while to get used to everything, but it will just be another breeze once you get used to it.
In other news, the fic I asked you to preread is now surpassing 10k.

Yeah, it happened just as I got home. He posted a blog explaining some of the things that went down, and it's much more streamlined than before. I like it, but it's hard to get used to.
