i know no ones going to read this, but i just feel like saying this somewhere. so here goes.
in all honesty, i dont like where this site's heading. it's quickly becoming filled with too many authors and not enough readers. yes, more authors are wonderful. its great to have so many people writing because literature is sadly overlooked in this day and age. but there needs to be people to read. and theyre not there anymore. i may not be the best writer, but im certainly not the worst. and even the worst story i wrote got at least a hundred views when it first came out. now, my best writing gets maybe 40. the only solution i can see is to write pointless drivel, because however badly its written, people will read it. the 'wat' factor is becoming the most popular driving force behind mlp fanfiction, and its sad to see great stories go unnoticed.
I read it, and I agree.
The new site fic system where it only shows up for a max of 6 hours is also prob a factor - My Blue Skies was only up for 40 mins.
All these new fics coming from new writers, and the fast speedway of fics coming up and the small window to have it read is terrible.
not to mention the fact that it takes around 24 hours to get the fic published. even if i knew what time the site got the most traffic, itd be impossible to time it right.
Well (from my perspective) there are two obvious solutions (both of which will make me hate you.)
1. SPAM UPDATES! Just make so many updates to your story so frequently that the 'new updates' part of the main page will always have your story on it, and always update during the peak traffic hours on the site. (Example of this working: "Living the Dream" It's a steaming pile of dogshit which still manages to be popular somehow.)

2. SHAMELESS PLUGS EVERYWHERE! Don't even try to be subtle about it (okay maybe be a little subtle...) just go to peoples user pages and chat up a storm, once you have their rapt attention change the subject to writing, and mention your story and make key points about it, which will hopefully grab their attention and make them look at it. (Example of this working: My own story! I'm not joking, I hate myself now...)
3. WRITE ALL THE STORIES! Seriously just write a bunch of rushed stories, in varying categories, upload all of them at once, and whichever one gets the most attention and positive responses, you just pump out as many pieces of crap like it until you have accumulated a mass following, then go back to writing what you wanted to the first place. (This is just me making up ideas off the top of my head, I have no examples of this in the wild...)
4... I'M OUT OF IDEAS! Just write some meta/fourth wall breaking piece of crap, those get all the attention now anyways.../Romance/Passable HiE piece of crap/any combination of all three/I lost my faith in humanity long ago... (Example: 90% of the most popular stories as of late....)
5. JUST SAY 'FUCK IT!' AND GIVE UP! Just give up, nobody gives a damn about anyone here anymore... (Example... fuck it I give up...)
6. I LIKE YOU! I just wanted to say this because I read (and enjoyed) most of the stories you've written, and you seem like a real stand-up guy. (Example...:

ah well. and ive actually tried most of those. 
#1 i cant do cuz i dont write fast and ive lately only been making one-shots.
#2 i tend to plug myself a lot.
#3 cant tolerate the lack of literary skill, so not an option.
#4 im assuming 'wat' stories are included in this, so ive done that. i mean seriously, squidward goes to equestria for about 400 words. and yeah.
#5 also done this, when i got rejected by EqD. then i was like, EqD sucks anyways ima keep writin like a boss.
#6 thank you! i dont know how this is a solution at all but im glad someone appreciates my work! seriously, the only real reason i want to write something famous is to toy with peoples emotions (ex- write a sad fic, make them cry. write a funny fic, make them laugh. write Apollo Creed VS The Slenderman, make them wat.)
incidentally, ill have to check out your plugged story lol.

Why thank you for that good sir, I know that my drivel may be riddled with punctuation, grammar, and general story errors but I hope to improve eventually... Also there were only two originally but as I was typing those I thought of more ideas... and then I forgot to edit the top...
