My Headcanon Involving Celestia and Luna · 1:18am Mar 12th, 2012

Celestia and Luna are the two daughters of King Solaris the Magnificent and his wife, Star Burst. When they were still babies, Solaris led the armies of Equestria (along with their allies from the Griffin Republic) against the rampaging hordes of goblins from the Peaks of Frostmouth. During the Battle of Roam, Solaris fought the goblin king, Arkash, in single combat. It was a close battle with both fighting like angry animals, but Solaris triumphed over Arkash and the horde was beaten.

When Celestia and Luna reached foalhood, Discord descended onto Equestria and attempted to usurp the throne of Equestria. Solaris tried to fight Discord, but the Spirit of Chaos was too powerful even for an immortal alicorn. Knowing that he could not win, he entrusted Star Burst to take their daughters someplace safe so Discord could not harm them. He fought one last battle against the evil Chaos Spirit and gave his life to protect his family.

The two sisters grew up under Discord's chaotic rule without knowing about their royal heritage. It wasn't until their father's mentor and friend, Starswirl the Bearded, told them of their legacy when they came of age. The old wizard tought them many and techniques; as well as teaching them about Equestria's history. He told them that the only way to banish Discord and bring peace to Equestria was to search for a power far older than than the founding of Equestria. He showed them an ancient ruin in the middle of the Everfree Forest; one older than the time of the Unification. In there, they found the story about how the ponies banished the evil demons of Tartarus by the use of the Elements of Harmony.

Using this knowledge, Luna and Celestia gathered up the 5 elements that were needed to unleash the full power of the EoH. They were successful in banishing Discord and both were crowned eternal monarchs of Equestria.

The rest is history.
