progress on prologue revisions, and question on what people would think for the first encounter. · 10:39am Mar 4th, 2013
I have made a lot of progress tonight. thou i feel really fatigued, really hoping i haven't come down with a cold. my nose has been running all day and my throat feels itchy.
the 3 sisters are now named Aoi, Yuni, and Toki. I'm not sure why ive made such a big deal out of them since they mainly will be in the prologue and have no immediate plans for them later on. well better to have things set up for later use at least.
yay! found some cough syrup from the last time i had a cold! bottoms up on the nasty purple/brownish liquid! bleug! well if i'm getting a cold hopefully i can burn it before it gets bad.
the confusing back story i typed up has been removed but I placed it in a separate word file for later reference. I also removed some technical data on a special object, and i'm either going to make a dumbed down version to put in or leave it out entirely.
with these removed and changes made the prologue is now sitting at 8375 words. that's around a 3000 word drop, I also need to try to figure out how to.... reword luna and celestia's parts of the prologue so they are in that middle/old ish english type of speech... or do people not care if luna and celestia speak like that? (note its only during the prologue that Celestia would speak like this.)
also for the MCs first encounter in chapter 1. I was originally planning on using a manticore, but from what ive seen most people use a manticore, and see a lot of complaints about it. I began to think of using either timber wolfs or Ursa minor. however I'm having a hard time trying to figure out how to do an ursa minor and still lead to the planned scenes afterwards.... there just too huge for what i had planned. and i don't mean big events, i mean their body and claw size is too large. a cockatrice would be interesting but wouldn't fit with what I'm planning. any other nasties anyone can think of that would live in the everfree?
Bears, windios, gorrilas, wild big cats, aliens, chupacabras, kappas, satan, changlings, sea serpents, thunderclouds, tornadoes, dinosaurs, the iron giant, alicorns, and discord are some of the things I can list of the top of my head.
OK... Things that could maul you... And not be 3 stories+ tall. Also discord wouldn't be in ever free at this time in the story.
