Ramblings on Writing: Getting Started · 7:44pm Feb 25th, 2013
So I was thinking (again) about my own writing and why it's not getting anywhere. I'll sit down and try to write something but only a couple of sentences will escape my pen onto the paper before me. Even when I have the writing bug and just WANT TO WRITE, the words seem to just decide they want to be lazy.
This really got me thinking about how have I gotten started on my past works and how do I manage to get going then. A large part of it is just sitting down and trying to write. After all if I don't try to write there's a 99.9999% chance that I'm not going to get anything at all. But I've been sitting down and getting past that first step that trip up most people that have ideas. So what else? I have a general outline of where I want the story to head, so it's that I don't have a story.
I came to the conclusion that the parts I'm trying to write just don't interest me that much at the moment. There ideas and story points that I want to get to latter but at the moment I'm just not feeling the "writing bug" for that particular part. So I came to the startling revelation that I should write what interests me. Shocking, I know.
Even if it means jumping ahead to another story in the future.
Anyways, I feel that this has been a particularly ramble-isk blog... thing. It's just something that's been playing on my mind for a while.
So here's hoping that I FINALLY actually get something written down and actually get moving on these ideas that are churning about in my brain!
Ready Brain?

A sequel is currently in the works. If you'd like to eventually write, would you be interested in editing now? It sounds like you have some ideas related to the story.
948193 I'd be willing to help with editing. ^.^
I've explored the idea a bit, mostly of trying to avoid it. However, also a bit of the "what do you do," when you do get trapped
950108 I won't lie. The job of editing is not easy. Most people have to devote about two hours per week to it. A GDocs account is preferred, but excellent spelling and grammar skills are a must. I want you to bring your best ideas to the table, and not be afraid to call me out for doing things you don't like. On top of that, editorship will take away the surprise and completely ruin the story for you.
Still interested?
950314 No it's not. Editing is the biggest part of writing. For all the idea tanks, story boards, and concepts tossed around editing takes the cake. It's a lot of work. 2 hours might even be calling it short, depending on how much you give.
Am I still interested?
Yes.
I very much am. I'll still get to enjoy the story and surprise of it all, just not in the same manner as a normal reader. Also, don't worry about me failing to call things out on you. If something doesn't work for me I WILL let you know, and I'll do my best to let you know WHY it doesn't work for me. I'll try to make sure I don't leave you in the dark.
