Saw a lot of FanFics on EQD, so I decided to make an account for reading them. Got my exams in a few days though, so I probably won't do much for a few days. Can anyone actually see this?

    Hello

    Hi everyone.

I haven't properly been on the site in a long time, occasionally I come back to take a look, say a thanks to the favourites I get and then close the tab again, but recently I've read through a few of the fics that I've written and put on the site here, and some others that I never finished but I wanted to post for your guys.

    OMG

    Look who I ran into!

Yes I'm still alive, I'm just kinda inactive at the moment, but I am writing and I'm hoping to get a story out before school starts so look out for that.

I just wanted to put the picture up, it was an awesome results day.

    Anyway, laters.

    Officially Back?

So it's been a few weeks since my last exam finished and I had originally planned on writing a story that very day, but all I've actually managed to get out were a few chapter names and the general idea for a story that is effectively an embodiment of my own dreams. When you read it, yes my dreams are that pathetic :derpytongue:.

I have no idea how this happened but it did and I'm grateful that you enjoyed my stories so much that you've read them this many times and I swear I'll be more active this summer!

    Should I?

So I wrote a narrative piece for my English homework and I was wondering if I should post it onto the site. It's a relatively task turning all the characters into ponies and I could add a few more lines to it, but do you guys think I should do it? It's a dark story, by the way.

That Was Disheartening · 9:08pm Feb 17th, 2013

Not only did my stories come out a few hours after the time I had predicted (stupid margin of error), they also only had a few views that summed up to no more than 60. On top of that, one of my stories garnered next to no likes whereas the other one was swamped with dislikes, and some of the people had told me it was because the story was "too gorey," not because it was badly written.

Due to this chain of events, I have decided to take down these two stories and maybe at some point in the future I will re-release them, though if I do then I will edit the crap out of both of them. I won't lower the gore levels of my dark fic though, because that story really doesn't serve any purpose other than to have a crap-ton of gore in it.

I do feel upset that people will down vote a story because they don't the story content. I agree that it is important what the story is about and it affects how much you enjoy it, but by disliking it you are sending a message to the other people that see the fic, and they won't think that you're saying there's too much gore. They'll probably think that the story itself is badly written, full of mistakes and generally unreadable, which I don't think is very true. I have noticed quite a few fics on this site (most of which are overly dark and gore-rific) that have a tremendous amount of dislikes, but were in fact written quite well.

In any case, if I ever post that story again I will put a big, red warning in the description to let everyone know that the mature and the gore tag don't do the story justice.

To those of you that happened to enjoy it, thank you for reading.

For those of you that were mentally scarred and disgusted by it, sorry but I didn't realise it would be that bad.

Was it really worse than Cupcakes?

In fact, was Cupcakes even that bad?

I feel a teensy weensy bit better now, but I'm still annoyed that my statistical analysis of the site's release pattern didn't work out. I was so sure that I had made the right prediction, I even accounted for the fact that Poultron hadn't been on in a while...

In any case, if you want to read it again then let me know and I'll work on fixing the endings (which were both horrendous) before resubmitting them to the site.

Thank you for following. Good night.

I don't know if people dislike a story for mistakes or not, but if I dislike a story, it is because it wasn't entertaining enough or bothered me. I believe I was one of the down votes on Sweet Apple Cider, and I down voted it because it creeped me out. I have nothing against a bloody story as long as it is placed in a way that bothers me too much. I disliked Rainbow Factory because the story context itself bothered me. That was the problem, to me anyway. It just wasn't the kind of story that I like to read. I didn't get a chance to read the other because I didn't feel like reading it right away, and I put it in my "Read Later"s and I didn't feel like reading it right away. That system of putting stories in my read later, and reading the ones I want to read has expanded the list to 546 stories, and I have been trying to read the older stories before the new to decide if I will read them or if I will unmark them.
You seemed down, so I thought I would explain my view. I don't mean to make you sadder, but I think an explanation might help you. I am sorry if it didn't.:twilightsheepish:

No, it's fine if you didn't like it.

It wasn't just on the site either, I passed it around a few people on the internet and the majority hated it, but most had no more reason than "it was too gorey."

Sorry for making it too disturbing, I've gotten accustomed to it and if it were up to me, that story would have been rated a teen. I forget that sometimes, so I'm sorry about that.

Next time I'll put a warning that makes it clear just how much gore there will be, so the reader can be better prepared for what they are about to read.

Thanks for the explanation, it was a nice thought.

840240 Rainbow Factory was on of the first stories I read on the site, and I hated it for the concept it covered. Some gory stories can be entertaining if it is used as an aid and the gore is not the whole point of the fic. From what I heard if cupcakes, I know I don't plan on reading it because it sounds to psychotically gruesome. I would like to read the other because I didn't get a chance. I will leave you with this advice:

If you enjoyed the premises of the stories and enjoyed writing them, you shouldn't worry what others think about the story. what matters is what you think. don't let others make you sad about something you did, and do what you do for you.

I put it in a quote box because I felt like it. That is how I live.

Cupcakes' sole point, much like my fic, is gore. I don't think you'll like it.

If people's main grudge against sweet apple cider was the 'pointless' gore, then when you re-do it would it be worth trying to put a subliminal message in, using the gore as a shock tactic to emphasise the point you are making rather than making it justify itself?
