Y'see, my GF, the ever lovable Cazzie, has started up a band with some college buddies, and has a few songs written and are on the verge of getting them recorded and promoted. And in the meantime, we do have a few of their rehearsal videos.

My opinion on Twilicorn and the Alicorn Drama · 11:02pm Feb 11th, 2013

Well, I thought I may as well put up my personal opinion on the whole Twilicorn thing, and the resultant shitstorm that to this day, still threatens to tear the fandom asunder.

First, Twilicorn itself. When the rumours and first images started popping up, I was pretty worried just like everypony. What could this mean for the future of the show? Was this gonna be the end of the series altogether? However, now that I look at it, it's really not that much of a problem. Everyone just seemed to be looking at it in a very pessimistic mindset. We seemed to look at Twilicorn and ask how it would work in a very accusatory and interrogative manner. Instead, maybe we should as a whole look at it with less accusation and condemnation, and instead with curiosity. That's how I look at it. Instead of deriding it and asking sceptically 'How will they pull this off? This is the worst thing ever!', I look at it with intrigue and excitement, asking 'How will they pull this off? I can't wait to see!'. It was only a few minutes ago that my brain just sort of clicked and... lo and behold, I just accepted that it was gonna happen, and the best thing I can do, indeed that we all can do, is just roll with it and see how it pans out. Save the fandom-ragequitting for when the episode has actually aired, why don't we? As the fandom-mantra is quickly becoming: Trust the writers. They've pulled crazy stuff off and taken risks for the show before, and thus far it's worked well enough. If nothing else, I commend the writers for being willing to take a risk with this show, even if it was an executive decision. First and foremost, this is a merch-driven show for little girls, no sense in denying it. It's no that it isn't a merch-driven girl's show, it's just that it's a very well done one. We have to accept that, and accept that execs will pull the strings every now and then.

But most importantly, I was worried about how would the fandom would react as a whole. That was the big worry for me. To be perfectly frank with y'all, this fandom is like a second family for me. A very bizarre and dysfunctional family, but family nonetheless. Every one of you guys who has commented on one of my stories or talked with me at meetups, conventions (If you go to any of the London meetups or to BUCK, that is), or just over the intertubes, you guys just make me so happy. So naturally, I was worried about what would happen to the fandom as a whole when the confirmation broke? As you can imagine, I was pretty pissed off when the drama began, with people practically deriding it as the coming of the fucking Anti-christ! I almost experienced fandom burnout right there and then! So, I took a break from the community side of it all and took shelter on other sites, including creative-brony-sites like here.

And now that I'm taking a deep breath and diving back into the community side of it, I am glad to see that the fandom as a whole has apparently calmed down a touch. At least I can go on EqD and look through the comment sections of the more recent posts, and not be treated to a comment section of nothing but nerdy arguments that would quite frankly put ancient nerd debates such as Kirk-vs-Picard and Edward-vs-Jacob, to shame.
However, if the fandom is ripped asunder by this finale, maybe that's a good thing. Let the ragequitters ragequit. It might make our fandom shrink by a few thousand, but it'll leave more room for those of us who still want to be fans of this great show. More room for us to appreciate the show without the whiners giving us a headache.

And my final thought is thus: What is one of the first things any brony will tell a non-brony when first exposing them to MLP? 9/10 times, it will be to watch the show with an open mind and not cast judgement until they've seen it for themselves.

Call me crazy, but maybe... just, just maybe, we should actually practice what we preach? Maybe we should save our judgement for when the episode actually airs?

Anyways, I've rambled long enough, and I'm overdue for my shower. Long story short, chill out guys. Let's wait until it's aired before we cast judgement. Keep calm, trust the writers, let the ragequitters ragequit (Means the pubmeets and conventions will be a bit less crowded at least!), and even if it does turn out to be a dud of a finale, we can at least look forward in hope to Season 4.

In the immortal words of the Blue Lanter Corps:

In Fearful Day,
In Raging Night

With strong hearts full,
Our souls ignite.

When all seems lost in
the War of Light,

Look to the stars,
For Hope burns bright.
