A sad day for us all · 7:16am Feb 9th, 2013
An amazing, fan-driven project -- My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic -- has been cancelled, citing a cease and desist letter to the production team, Mane 6. Most would blame Hasbro in this instance, but it's not really their fault; outdated copyright laws are what killed this game. I hope and pray that there might still be some light on the horizon, but who can say for sure? All I can do now is cling to rapidly fading optimism.
Godspeed, Mane 6.
Sad news indeed.
I still have to understand why Hasbro targets some of the fan-made content, when what is actualy making their show popular is the fandom itself in the first place. Sure, they don't get money from things that are fanmade, but more often than not, those are the things that contribute to the show's popularity, and thus, increasing their total potential customers that will buy their products, and such.
I really think Hasbro plays this very badly.

Hasbro, like any large media company, has a legal department. I agree that this was a dumb idea, but blame the CEO, lawyers, higher-ups, not the storyboard artists or anyone who works closely with the show itself. They're innocent, and I'm sure a fair number of them are just as upset over this news as we are.

Alright then.
"I think the Hasbro's legal departement plays this very badly"
Anyway, why isn't some "high head" on Hasbro just telling the legal departement to politely have sexual intercourse with themselves, and drop the case on any MLP material?
The higher tier at Hasbro probably don't care about the fans, but I guess they kinda know what's going on about the MLP fandom, and since the actions taken by the legal departement will have (very indirect, I agree) consequences on their money income, it would be wise for them to just let things be.
But yeah, I know those working on the show have nothing to do with this.
