    Hmm...Twilicorn....

So, people put thoughts on these thingies apparently.
Normally I don't bother, but hey, may as well waste some time.
Everyone has a view on the latest news of course.
I tend to avoid spoilers where possible.
Unfortunately this time around it was quite clearly IMPOSSIBLE to avoid the spoilers for the upcoming finale.

So, people put thoughts on these thingies apparently.
Normally I don't bother, but hey, may as well waste some time.
Everyone has a view on the latest news of course.

Unfortunately this time around it was quite clearly IMPOSSIBLE to avoid the spoilers for the upcoming finale.
HUB basically screamed it from the rooftops on their Facebook page, and EQD gave up on any semblace of "spoiler tagging", likely overwhelmed by the sheer exposure.
This flasher didn't just open his trenchcoat; he threw it away, waved his junk in your face, and then proceeded to beat you about the head with it.
...analogies are fun.

So I guess I'll state that I don't have an inherrant objection to Twilicorn.
I've read quite a few Twilicorn fics, and have enjoyed enough of them.
It's nothing "new" .
My concern is that the things I like about Twilicorn I'm probably not going to see in an episode.

Basically the Twilicorn fics I like seem to go one of two ways;

1) "OMG I'm an alicorn? How did this happen?! Celestia is going to banish me! I'm going to have a neurotic panic attack, completely freak out, and have a bunch of craaaazy hijinks now!"
Why this wont happen in the episode you ask?
It's a planned coronation.
There is no "unexpected".
I'm certain Twi will still face some nerves, that's natural, but I don't think I'm going to get the level of zany that I'd like.
Plus there's a certain build up in the good fics.
They deal with this over quite a few chapters.
I'm afraid an episode just doesnt have the amount of time they'd need to do this...maybe a double would be able to handle it a bit better, but to be honest I really would have preferred Twilicorn as a movie.

2) GRIMDARK/DARK!
She gets her wings and is embroiled in some chaotic dark conspiracy adventure.
There's massive internal conflict, extreme emotional stress and turmoil.
Epic, but definately not something I'll see in an MLP episode.
These are the ones I prefer.
The wacky fics are definately fun, but when you consider everything that goes with being an alicorn; the power, responsibility, immortality, it just lends itself so well to the darker fics.

Sure there's other stuff, but generally speaking those seem to be the main storylines if you compress them into a basic notion.

So...yeah...
In closing, Twilicorn potentially good, but serious concerns about how they'll manage it.
I'm not going to freak out about it or anything.

Personally, I'm going for "Twilicorn potentially decent, but serious concerns about how they'll manage it."
