I was just about to release the first few chapters of my first FIMfiction, Under Construction, and guess what.
My mom just had to go and take away my laptop. .____.
Apparently, I cannot have it back until I have a job, or some shit like that....
So until I get it back (all my stories are saved on it), I will be unable to post said chapters. They were gonna be so awesome, too. TT^TT
So anyway, if anypony ever reads my crap... I've got a question for you.
Would you rather I wait until I can upload a bit more of the story, or should I just go ahead and submit the first chapter alone and make you all wait for the next bit? Please comment with your vote, and I'll make a decision.

Well as much as I love the suspense of waiting for the next part of a story, I'm thinking you should wait until you can get another chapter or two to upload with your first. Of course i just want to ask first, about how long is your first chapter? Is it in the 1000-2000 word range, or more than that?
741226 Yeah, it's only a little over 1000. The second chapter is already almost twice as long (and still not finished yet), but, like I said, it's saved on my laptop, so I can't get to it right now. :/
741253 Well then i would have to suggest that you wait until you can get your second chapter up as well. Like I said I'm down with the waiting, I love suspense. But, and I say this without having read it of course, i think I'd feel that i would need more to draw me in, in order for me to want to continue reading it. I'm sure I'll like it, but still, I think it would be left off too short in my opinion.
But, it is your decision, and I'm going to read it whether or not you have the second chapter up or not.
Personally, I hate the suspense of waiting for the next chapter of an awesome story to be released. But since it's you're first story, I'd say you should release it when you get the chance. I'd like to see what kind of writing ability you possess.

I think I may release it, then, and I'll just be working on the rest offline and upload it whenever I can get my laptop back.
By the way, in case you guys don't know what Under Construction is about, it's a slice-of-life type story that will never end, and its purpose is to introduce all of my characters (gradually throughout the story, of course, not all at once) and show how they each settle into their new homes in Ponyville and what places they take in the community. It involves mild "grimdark" themes and some sexual references, but for the most part, it is clean.

However, after I hit the "submit" button, I re-read over it, and I'm already starting to see things within my own story that displease me. .___.
The biggest thing that bothers me about it is that I unintentionally wrote in something that really bothers me when I see it in other people's stories, and that is... the instant crush.
When I was first planning out that part of the story, I had a different vision of how things would go down, but then I noticed some logic flaws and changed a few things up but kept everything else the same. Now I realize that the changes I made are going to change my characterization of Pinkie Pie to make her seem a lot more flirtatious than I originally intended for her to be. Maybe I should fix that. :/
742251 Well you can always edit. Heck, "Wingless" is the production of quite a few edits over time. Most of them involve little things though, not something that makes up a good portion of the story. I'd say you can always just do the edit, and make sure you do a blog post or something saying your readers should reread it, just to make sure.
