Discord, the do's and the don'ts of Keep Calm and Flutter On, at least in my opinion · 5:59pm Jan 19th, 2013

This is a tough episode for me to place.
-Fluttershy is tough to place here. We've seen her and Discord, and she's the best at reading through his tricks and schemes, she plays chess mistress here- and she does it well. However, I must wonder just how far Discord would have to go before she broke her promise. What if somepony got hurt? He could do it in the blink of an eye.
Secondly Discord is -mostly- completely in character. He's having a blast until the end. However- why play along? He could still have put a spell on any of them, telleport them off into the far north- or even telleport himself out of danger. Granted, he just wants fun, but dancing around the elements seems a bit risky, even for him.
So Tia, what on earth are you planning? You haven't needed him so far, so why now? Either this will be a plot point later, perhaps in this whole 'alicorn twi' possibility, or the real reason was to tr and remove him as a threat.
appreciate how no one but Fluttershy really buys "reformed" Discord, or pretends to- either would not surprise me. Patience does seem to have won in the end.
The biggest question now is weather he is really reformed or not- what do you think?

Well, I really like the way Fluttershy fooled him, she's been taking lessons from Celestia I think. I also like the way that even Celestia doesn't buy his "redemption" at face value, so at least the writers avoided the trap of "too easy" fixing a character who, let's face it, isn't above maliciousness, although he'd probably draw the line at true evil.

Maybe.

Having said that, it seems to have been a bit too easy. Granted, MLP is a show for little girls and the clear lesson here about giving everyone a second chance, and that everyone can change, is a very valuable one. Even if it's a lesson most adults have never learned it's one that should be taught.

However, Discord is a god of chaos, he's been around forever, and never had a friend before? So is Fluttershy's friendship a novelty that will wear off? Especially considering court life. Can you see Discord dealing gracefully with Blue Blood and the nobility? (grin)

Of course given Tia's Trollestia nature that might not be an entirely bad thing... (laughing)

Still, trust but verify. His redemption was too quick, too painless. Even granting his chaotic nature and cutting him the gargantuan slack that nature requires, it's still going to be a handful.

Of course now that the Bearers have the elements full time I can see evil types schemeing to steal one or the other elements. After all they can't wear them all the time!

It appears Celestia has blessed Equestria to "live in interesting times". Hehehehe.

Oh, and Celestia is definitely being Celestia here. "Here, my little ponies, just reform this chaos god while I toddle off back to Canterlot for a Royal Summit". That's pure Celestia that is.

Spike and Rainbow Dash are definitely very in character as well, Spike especially.

I didn't approve of his kicked-puppy nature a bit there, and I don't think he would submit to Tia ruling over him. I mean, why? Fluttershy, the only one who really affects him, would understand him not wanting to go live in canterlot under the sister's constant scrutiny. I don't think he's quite the lapdog type, and if he gets pushed to far everypony's screwed. :rainbowhuh:

I think he's biding his time. Of course the ponies are infectious, maybe that's Tia's plan: to expose him to Harmony and infect him. Of course if he's pushed too soon...boom.

As for the kicked puppy, well, yes that's appropriate--assuming he really does think having a friend is a good thing. And he might--for now. Later? Maybe not so much.

Tia is defintely playing with fire. But then again that's why she's paid the big bucks!
