    The Best CMC Story

There's a series of six chapter books known as Ponyville Mysteries. I highly recommend them, and they even fit the Nightmare Night atmosphere! They have characters staring into the face of death, and lore, and an overarching plotline. It's the CMC at their best.

That's all I've got to say right now.

    A Confession...

I hadn't watched most of season 8 or any of season 9 until a few weeks ago, nor any of G5 until this week, due to horrible anxiety. (Yes, anxiety about watching a tv show I want to watch. My brain is messed up.) So in no particular order, I need to get out some thoughts.

    Spike's Magic

I'm watching through the show again, and noticed a lore thing that I thought was worth making note of. In Spike at Your Service (yes, that horrible episode where Spike is depicted as clumsy and incapable of things like cooking and cleaning that he's been shown to be skilled at in most other episodes), Spike has this personal "Spike the Dragon Code" card. But what's interesting is where it

    Isn't It Funny...

...When you're just looking at the latest stories, and suddenly there's a propagandist promotion of an extremist who advocates against democracy and openly admires the worst dictator in history in the description of what you naively thought was a shipping story?

...When an avowed Communist asks for money as though that isn't inherently hypocritical?

This is Me, Procrastinating · 10:11pm Jan 5th, 2013

My parents insist that I can't laze around the house this summer. So they want me to apply to a bunch of college residency programs. Some of these programs require essays. some of these essays are due soon.

I hate essays. Give me a straightforward question with a clear goal, and I can give you an informative answer, and even be entertaining while doing so. Or give me no question at all, and just tell me to write, and I can construct an elaborate and insightful adventure in words. But give me a question that is vague enough to mean anything, but specific enough to demand a certain response though I know not what it is, (i.e. an essay prompt), and I cannot get a single word on the page. My brain simply doesn't know what to do with it...

INPUT: essay prompt x; requesting response
PROCESSING . . . OPENING ANSWER FORMAT FOLDER . . . OPENING MUSING FORMAT FOLDER . . .
ERROR: A CONFLICT HAS OCCURRED: ONLY ONE FORMAT FOLDER MAY BE OPEN AT ONE TIME . . . EMERGENCY ABORT IN PROGRESS...

And that is something like how it goes. So instead of staring at a blank word document, I am using this blog to vent.

I do have some pony related news, though. First, about what I'm doing. I recently had some inspiration on the direction I want to take "Orphans" in, and that is the first thing I'll be working on when I'm done procrastinating/writing essays. And despite my greatest efforts, I keep getting more ideas. Specifically, I have a rather odd crossover in mind with I'm not saying yet, and the need to write it. Like I don't have enough to do already.

Finally, some musings about recent episodes of the show:
3. It seems to me that they are straying very close to the "please the fan base at the expense of the show" line. If you can't see it too, then I'm not sure I can point it out to you.
2. The next episode has Discord in it. They had better have a VERY good excuse for how he gets out again. And "Celestia casually unfreezes him" is not a good excuse. Also, I feel that any episode that has Discord in it which isn't a double is giving him short shrift. On the other hand, I quite enjoy Discord, and especially the idea of Fluttershy attempting to reform him. In short, this will either be my favorite episode, or the one I will pretend doesn't exist.
1. Oops. I only had two. My bad.

Yip, Yip, and away!
