The Life of Fear, Chapter 4.1 - or, How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Unemployment · 5:27am Dec 29th, 2012
So...I may have lied when I said "Chapter 4 by Christmas". No, scratch that - I definitely lied when I said "Chapter 4 by Christmas". But this chapter was going to end up being the size of two chapters anyway, and I managed to get it roughly half-done before the end of the year, and I felt bad for not producing anything, so I'm giving it to you as-is.
I'm sorry to be so late, but as a seasonal retail hire, work was killing me, and then suddenly, on Christmas Eve, I didn't have it anymore - a dick move on my boss' part - and despite what may seem logical, sudden unemployment does not a more productive writer make. Don't worry - I'm moving back to my home state in about a month anyway, and I've got a good bit of money saved, so I'll be fine.
Hopefully, with what is now way too much free time on my hands, I'll be able to write more as well! ...and not get distracted by these shows Breaking Bad and Walking Dead that people keep telling me about and that I have the time to watch now. Hrm.
I am also painfully aware that the chapter ends at a weird point right now. When I finish C4P2, I may or may not combine them, depending on how long it actually ends up being. After Memories, though, comes Chapter 5: Mistakes. (Dramatic pause.)
Keep an eye out for that, and thanks for sticking with me during the trials and tribulations of my first major work. Or, if you've lost interest and abandoned me - well, thanks for giving me a chance. Come back anytime.
P.S.: Yes, Trevosta, I know that I have, once again, failed to describe what Ignus looks like. It just never seemed to fit in anywhere. Don't worry - Chapter 5 will describe Ignus more than you could possibly desire. What that means, exactly, is for me to know you to find out.
P.P.S.: Oh yeah, I forgot to actually mention this. As a late christmas present (although, I'll admit, it's one of those "thought-that-counts" kind of gifts), I've given names to each chapter - and because I've been having way too much fun faffing about with bastardized latin recently, I've changed one (1) line in Chapter 2. +1 imaginary cookies to whoever finds it first!
