Been on a darkfic binge lately, all those stories sure scratched that HPL itch I had. Not sure if I'm gonna continue it after this post but we'll see.
• Heart Strings by The Red Parade
Poor Lyra. Talk about being a ponies-pleaser. Metaphor or not, having to pick yourself apart, literally or figuratively, for other ponies is a heavy burden. Wish she could talk about that with someone.
• Discursive Formations: Headfirst for Halos by The Red Parade
Wellp. The pony sure got what he came for, just not what he thought he was gonna get. It was smart for the agents to not go into an obvious trap but I guess the main character is doomed to fall and fall until a replacement comes. Dark and nice.
• The Visiting Hour by Horse Voice
Poor Lyra. Poor whoever possessed her. Poor everypony else. Good story with oldschool vibes. And turns out the author also wrote The Writing on the Wall, that was an excellent read back in the day, might revisit it in the future.
• Holder's Boulder by Horse Voice
More oldschool vibes. And Maud is awesome as usual. Which makes the ending all the more sad.
• I Cast a Deadly Shadow by Horse Voice
The vibe of this one is way off for my taste. I only vaguely remember the comic but enough to understand who the fic is about, however I didn't find making them a mass-shooter-coded serial killer who ultimately gets away with it even if through death was either interesting or appealing or compelling. It's a nicely written story and I was sad after reading it but it just doesn't do it for me, sorry.
• All Nightmare Long by Horse Voice
This is another good one however. Who said that whatever corrupted Luna was done? Poor Twilight though.
• Secrets And Lies by Masterweaver
They are coming. They are hungry. They are coming. They are hungry. They are coming. They are hungry.
Jokes aside, a great story, and great oldschool "impending doom" vibe once again; and poor Cassandra-Lyra once more.
