Puzzles Are Addicting · 9:00pm March 30th
And I don't mean the type of puzzles where you piece together a picture from small pieces. I mean logic puzzles like nonogramm, tents, light up or mosaic.
Especially mosaic fascinates me. An app with a collection of all these kind of puzzles only generated easy versions, so when I went to this site and tried an 5x5 hard one, I was baffled and didn't know how to approach solving it. Only after minutes I started to see what to look out for and how to approach them. Started also to see some strategies like looking out for pairs with differences of three or how corner pairs effect each other etc.
Even now, I still have to look for minutes to get these hard ones (sometimes easy ones appear amongst them, but still). But well, I slowly get to notice more patterns and clues to look out for.
Not sure yet if mosaic or tents/tents and trees is my favourite, the latter has something captivating, but after solving some very big size ones, I realised how to deduct a lot of fields for the tents and it starts to get somewhat unchallenging. However, trying to speedrun it is a lot of fun, so it's me pushing to my limit of pattern recognition.
Meanwhile, mosaic seems more like one you actually have to think to solve, but that might be just me not having done enough of it yet and lacking the experience. I guess I just have to see how it'll evolve.
I know sudoku exists and can be more challenging, but I still prefer the other ones.
Anyway, blog post title. Absolutely addicting. Somehow, mosaic was the most addicting. I started to solve the hard ones yesterday midnight and couldn't stop until after two hours. I just kept going and going and going. Today I even downloaded an app specialised for this puzzle to play mosaic on my phone, and despite being a bit less challenging than the ones on the site, it still takes me a while to see where to proceed (even if the steps are rather forced).
Not sure how many care for these type of logic puzzles on fimfic, but if you stumble upon my blog post and read this far, check the site I linked out. It has a lot of other puzzles and the site is very well done.
As for me, I'm going to solve more mosaic puzzles, and then look if I get to write an april fools fic or not. Depending on how the writing will flow. Now, I definitely won't force myself to write something out, and thus I'm much more relaxed and enjoying my time with what I actually can do
