Hindsight

Every piece of commentary on/criticism of any piece of media, from a kids book to a physics textbook is made with the benefit of something nobody could possibly have had at the time.

Hindsight.

Of course something is obvious in retrospect, we can piece together what led TO the thing with present knowledge of the thing in question having happened.

It's easy to say what you or anyone else might have done if you were in the situation, and maybe you would have, who knows, but when you're on the metaphorical field, dealing with whatever's happening, where the circumstances are no doubt VERY different to Joe Schmoe at the computer, safe in their room? Whole other story.
