Titanverse: Scrapped concepts, deleted scenes, and more!

Now that the Titanverse trilogy has come to an end, I thought now would be a good time to make a blog that details some of the parts of the story that didn't make it into the final product. As well as stuff that may be seen in the new story Mega Macintosh: Life of a Titan.

Future Plans: Update 6- What comes after Titanverse? (POLL CLOSED)

    What's up everyone?

As we all know, with the second story in the Titanverse trilogy wrapping up and the final story on the way, this leaves me with the question: Where do I go from there? I have many drafts and outlines for several stories saved that I made in my free time so I will leave things up to you guys as to where I go from here.

    Current Schedule:
    1) Finish MEGA Macintosh

What other characters should become gigantic?

This is just a thought that crossed my mind. I have already written stories involving Celestia, Luna, Blueblood, the Nobles, Thorax, Cadance, Shining Armor, and most recently Big Macintosh.

Are there other characters people would like to see get their spotlight as the largest thing alive in Equestria?

Titanverse: Scrapped concepts, deleted scenes, and more! · 4:59am Sep 30th, 2023

Now that the Titanverse trilogy has come to an end, I thought now would be a good time to make a blog that details some of the parts of the story that didn't make it into the final product. As well as stuff that may be seen in the new story Mega Macintosh: Life of a Titan.

1) Big Business
This story was an interesting one for me. When I first started writing on FimFiction, this was going to originally be the very first story I published. But I decided against that. Why? Well, a no name writer like myself publishing a story that was wildly out of pace with the usual 'giant' fics that are normally published would probably not go over well with people reading it and the fact that the main characters were a bunch of the snobby nobles from Canterlot instead of our usual cast. Having this story come second after a standalone (which wasn't supposed to be a standalone in the first place, but I'll get to that later) was already a massive change in my original intention for uploading. But nevertheless, I think things worked out for the best.

Blueblood was supposed to be a much more sympathetic character. This is another major thing I changed when I wrote the story. If you notice, in Mega Macintosh and Colossal Chrysalis, both of them end off the story with some major character development after some reflections on themselves or introspection. But this didn't happen with Blueblood, or any of the nobles for that matter. Why? Well, as a newbie writer, I felt like people wouldn't really care about the character development and thought they'd just want to leap into the action. Boy, I was wrong about that by a mile. The original plot for Big Business was that Blueblood felt as if he was becoming a nobody, and that all he has going for him now is just his wealth and status. He missed his Auntie Celestia, how they used to always spend time together, have fun together, and be there for one another. But ever since she got Twilight as her student, she's been slowly becoming more and more distant from him. And he from her. Until they've reached the point they're practically strangers to each other. Only giving a passing hi and nothing more. I wrote a scene where Celestia and Blueblood pass each other in the hallway, Celestia having her nose buried in some paperwork as she walked by. Blueblood calls out to her, greeting her and Celestia just gives a halfhearted 'hi' as she walks, not even acknowledging who she passed or that he was there. But further down the hall Twilight would stop by and say hi and Celestia would immediately brighten up and magic the papers away to give her a big hug and greeting, wanting to catch up immediately and leaving a dejected Blueblood behind. Blueblood over the years had been falling into a bad crowd with the nobles since he had nobody to turn to now that Celestia is focused solely on Twilight and Luna really doesn't like him. They give him the suggestion to do something to get more attention onto himself, something that would outshine even the elements of harmony. And that is how the growth spell would come into play, Blueblood (and the other nobles for their own selfish gain) using it to become the biggest ponies around. Far bigger than the mane 6.

The ending would have been different too. With Blueblood reconciling with Celestia and Luna while the other nobles are punished for their crimes. But Blueblood and the other completely forgetting about the spell book they left in the woods, now it's magic growing wild and out of control, shooting off in random directions towards the nearest settlement.

2) Mega Macintosh
So, minor confession, Big Macintosh was NOT originally going to be the sole character of focus here. Originally there were going to be three main characters that got hit by the out of control growth spell: Big Macintosh, Mayor Mare, and Zecora. I know, a drastic difference from the original story. The purpose was for each one of the characters to overcome some specific thing that may be weighing down on them. But the more I thought about it, the more I realized Mayor Mare and Zecora weren't best fits for the story. What would Mayor Mare have to overcome really? She's in a good position, this series takes place between season 2-3 which means Twilight is a normal unicorn at this time, so she won't feel like she's becoming useless in the populace. There was really nothing to go off of. As for Zecora, I honestly couldn't come up with anything she could go though that hadn't been covered in the show already. I had wanted her to want to grow huge so she can help more creatures with her potions but couldn't really come up with a meaningful way for this to expand and grow her character, not to mention writing dialogue for her is pretty difficult. So in the end I ended up dropping the two and focusing on Big Mac and his issues of being forgotten by the apple family, the story Blueblood was going to originally get. But this still works for Big Macintosh just as well. I did add in a little Easter egg at the end for myself and now the readers by having Big Mac interacting with Mayor Mare and Zecora in the final chapter during Pinkie's party for him.

3) Colossal Chrysalis
I have to be honest, of all three stories, this one went though the least amount of changes. Pretty much everything happened that I had originally planned. The main difference was Titanverse was not supposed to be a trilogy to begin with, it was supposed to be a 4 story saga, but I ended up scrapping the final story and making it a standalone. My first story; The Royal Sister' GIANT break. The size ray made by Chip and Chirp wasn't supposed to overload and break, it was supposed to be kept in the possession of Celestia and Luna initially because they always keep dangerous and old artifacts around.

4) The Royal Sisters' Giant break (scrapped version)
In this version, after all the stuff that had happened with the Titans roaming around Equestria, Celestia finds herself tempted to use the ray on herself as a way to wind down and relax. As well to have a little fun with being the huge one. She eventually caves and uses it, becoming a Titan herself and bringing Luna along for the ride. This final story would have been a pretty low stakes, feel good story where the two go across Equestria visiting their subjects and overall doing some supersized shenanigans. Some reminents of this still existed in the published version of Colossal Chrysalis, hence why Discord kept making comments about how Celestia enjoyed being huge. I thought it'd be fun to keep that in.

5) Mega Macintosh: Life of a Titan
Going forward, this story will be tackling some plot points that were scrapped originally as well as expanding on Big Macintosh being the final titan. But with the caveat that he can make anyone else into a Titan as well. Oh, that will most certainly come into play at some point. Keep your eyes peeled!

Can't wait to see what you crank out man

You know i've had a thought.
So far you've written about plenty of ponies, and one Changeling getting big.
Ever considered trying other species, like dragons or griffons?

Thanks! I hope you'll enjoy it!

I have to be honest, this never actually crossed my mind to do so. But you did give me something to think about, maybe I can try to see if such a thing could happen in the life of a titan story.

1) The original concept of Blueblood being ignored more and more would certainly sound interesting if he used his titanic form to effectively play with his aunt as an offshoot to the final production.
2) A giant Mayor Mare could work if it's approached in a post-S3 sequence, but the canon's made the format slightly tricky (vis-a-vis S4E1&2). A giant Zecora could only be applied if the lesson of S1E9 didn't sink in effectively with the majority of Ponyville's denizens.
