I might have a few shorter stories and one shots soon.

I looked at my not released stories and I have around 80 stories that I haven’t written a chapter of. I knew I was more of an ideas guy but oof.

Will probably release newer stories when I feel like it- sure I will still focus on certain larger stories those won’t go away cause I like writing G5 stuff so a fair few will be those but definitely the more joke or one off ideas I have not released cause it’s often a bit too silly. Yeah those will probably be released at some point just so I can work down some of the stories that haven’t seen the light of day.

Some of the story plots are weird and I stopped a few of them because G5 released. Honestly I have tons of g4 stories that I stopped because once my brain saw that G5 was a sequel I mentally couldn’t square the circle and try to shoehorn in the whole opaline thing and loss of magic to some final chapter ideas. Love g5 a ton and there’s always something new and goofy (especially with how g5 keeps adding slight ideas that are just never seen in g4- alicorn glitter and giga gems for just quick examples or turning most of the mane five into babies- the shorts are wild. I’m just throwing up my hands now and saying okay I guess I can write anything and not always shoot down an idea because it’s not canon enough.

Heck I canned some ideas because I thought the show wouldn’t do them because they were too weird. The g5 shorts told me otherwise.

Yes, this is me saying that I was being selective with story ideas and releasing them.

Yes the AU tag exists and all that, love that tag but even then I often overthought things and became used to just thinking “this crossover is too odd or niche” or “changing this much in canon has a myriad of butterfly effects and now I have to spend time trying to untangle the weeds there.

In short I think I became stuck in the weeds trying to craft some fancy bonsai tree or most of the time trying to make a story have a complete point when I could just plant some normal trees and it’d be fine. Won’t be stopping trying for quality or at least have fun with writing, that won’t stop but I have like five or six stories a third or half completed because I hit a point where I thought this was too irreverent or silly.

Probably the bonsai tree is a bad analogy but sometimes writing niche or weird stories between the more serious stuff is cathartic and I can’t just keep going “this sure is a good or at least fun/ interesting ” and keep it in my unreleased story list forever because I have this nearly undefinable “quality bar” I keep trying to reach.

Don’t know what but it’s been a while and it was just me being probably a bit autistic and trying to fit g5 into my earlier g4 ideas when that literally just doesn’t work well, won’t probably work, or will muddle any already complex stories even further.

G5 and g4 are related and ideas might be used between them but man sometimes I just want to write dumb M rated stories that have weird stuff that just happens because plot or stories that I haven’t spent like three months cooking up. Like attempting to have a certain level of thought in my stuff but it can be taxing.

G5 is fantastic and the new episodes were fun but I’ve been wrangling with the ideas g5 keeps introducing that pretty much weren’t in G4 -ancient unicorn greetings changing the weather yet no windigoes exist, the weird ghosty gremlins in the Bridlewoodstock episode, making Skyros fully canon besides outside of a book, opaline, together trees, all the weird stuff in the shorts, Twilight possibly sealing away magic so opaline can’t pull a Starlight Glimmer and steal all the cutie mark magic, etc.

G4 stories are tentatively on the table and planned too. Probably going to start small for G4 stuff when I do.
