    March Blog: Well, February... Happened

I never did put up a February blog, breaking my streak... but given what I did post instead... I think it's understandable.

    Cry For Help

I've been cagey about what's been happening to me.

Part of that is an instinctive wariness of sharing personal info online. And yes, those of you who have worked with me through Paypal are free to note the irony, since y'all know my legal name but... you still get it.

January Blog: Technically It's Still January

So, I mentioned having a bad December?

    January was worse.

I'm going to be brief, because I have a lot of catching up to do, but I have some news.

December Blog: I Did Indeed Jinx Myself

December's not typically a good month for me.

It's been a very bad month, even for December, so far.

Bad enough that I'd rather talk about it once we're into January and I can do so with hindsight.

Can I Collapse Yet? · 8:00pm Aug 4th, 2023

Takes a special kind of day to make me want to crawl back into bed and wait for tomorrow when it isn't even noon yet.

Well. Given that my sleep "schedule" can be roughly defined as "an owl with a crack habit" thanks to rampant insomnia with a side of panic attacks, there are days when I'm still in bed at noon, but let's set aside those minor details.

So. I'm just going to call this one a continuation of my last two blogs rather than doing the full link roundup. And so those who've been following the Teeth Saga likely already know what this is about. And those sick of me talking about it all should be celebrating soon, since I won't need to give any major updates after this one.

Last night, Bowser broke one of his teeth. While breaking a tooth while having dental surgery scheduled the next day was probably the best possible time, it was clear he was not a happy boy. He stayed close to his dog-mom all night, sore and in need of comfort.

Then today, for some ungodly reason, he needed to be dropped off at the vet's at 7:30. While I'm not the one driving him by virtue of "in a different country," I try to be awake for those times so that I can be moral support. He was dropped off, the waiver was signed because there's always a waiver when sedating an animal, and then she was on to other, non-dental-related appointments also scheduled for today.

Then she stepped out of one of them and was immediately called by the vet to be told that he'd had a seizure.

Now, all said, it probably happened under the best possible circumstances. It hit right as they sedated him, before anything was done, and they were able to reverse the sedation and he was fine afterward. As a way to find out he has a bad reaction to a particular sedative, it's downright ideal. It's just also an incredibly terrifying thing to get a call about. Or a text, in my case, as she relayed it.

They switched to a different sedative, pretty confident it'd go smoothly but also promising that if he did also react badly to that one, they wouldn't go ahead with anything else and would go back to the drawing board on how to handle the removals. Thankfully, that one worked, and things went underway, which is where the good news came in.

Apparently, much like her own experience, once the oral surgeon got in there themselves, they noted that not nearly as many teeth needed to be removed as was thought. Even the broken tooth wasn't so bad once they got a good look. We still don't know how that will affect the final bill, but we're hopeful it'll dial it down even more so than the quote had.

Which is good, because he's going to need to be on soft food for at least two weeks, and he's a big dog with a bigger appetite. It's much more than she can typically afford, so excess GFM money will likely be going to the food budget for the next while. He's also going to be very sad about the lack of treats for that period, but he can still have bone broth and she's going to make sure to get his favourite flavour (turkey) to cheer him up.

I'll be updating the GFM itself in the next couple of days with the bills on the bloodwork and dental work, and from there it'll be doing the math on what goes to food, what goes to other medical treatments for the two boys, and steadily sorting it all out until all excess is accounted for.

I'm just... very tired. Emotional rollercoasters aren't any less likely to make you want to puke when they're done than physical ones.

I'm going to attempt to enjoy some BG3 today, and enjoy some takeout food for dinner (it's too hot right now to safely cook something, so everyone in my household agreed we'd do some kind of takeout tonight), and then... sleep. I would like to have a lot of sleep, please and thank you.

Til next time, all. Hope you're having a less eventful day than I've been.
