The Perils of Writer's Block · 4:25am Feb 22nd, 2012
Hi there! Been a while since my last blog post, hasn't it?
First off, I'd like to thank the few people who read and enjoyed my latest work "Ponies Vs. Monsters." Its popularity has been...less than expected, let's just leave it at that. All the same, what reception I did get was strongly positive, so that's always a cause for celebration. Heck, Pinkie would probably celebrate even if not a single soul read it.
Anyways, to anyone hoping for a new story soon, I'm afraid I have some bad news on that: I've been afflicted with writer's block. The same thing ironically happened to me when I got finished with the original "Friendly Games." I kept working through the story thinking that I would be able to come up with my next fic before I finished it, but I still have no idea what I wish to write next even a couple weeks after the fact. I have some basic concepts that could turn into a story, but they're incredibly unrefined and I may end up trashing them anyway.
Unfortunately, the writer's block is only half the problem. My current college semester has been quite the pain these last few weeks. It seems like no matter how much work I get done, without fail something else arises and forces me to direct my focus elsewhere. I really haven't time to even think up ideas for a new story, let alone building on them until I'm ready to actually write something.
Fear not, however, for I will continue to remain active within the SFG and this site, leaving occasional comments and the like. Once I get through the next couple days, I'll try to whip up some commentary for PvM, and maybe a bonus scene if I'm feeling up to it. Who knows, maybe the idea that leads to my next fic will come to me shortly after I post this, rendering this entire blog moot. That'd be nice.
I'll be ticking away as always, so don't take your eye off me just yet!
Real life always takes precedence, I'll be waiting right here for when you get back
PvM was a top-shelf story. I can't understand why it had such a limited reception.
My guess is that no one quite knew what it was. Maybe they were expecting an adventure story instead of a playful romance.
Anyway, no worries. A vacation now and again is always good.
Rest and recharge, and so forth.

Well, there was also the fact that it didn't make the featured bar, which means that once it got bumped off the "new stories" tab, it would be hard to find unless you knew what you were looking for.
I wish I could call this a "vacation", because that would imply that I was relaxing from my time off from writing, not getting hammered by endless college work.
