My view on Twilights progression throughout the show. · 9:15pm Jun 22nd, 2023
This is a very controversial topic. Should Celestia have made Twilight an Alicorn and later ruler of Equestria? My short answer yes, but when you look into it in more detail there’s more pros than cons. First of all, Twilight was the perfect fit. Celestia needed an heir and it took 1000+ years to find Twilight and that was close to never being a reality so who knows how long it would’ve been and no one deserves to rule any longer than Celestia had which how long she and Luna ruled previous the NMM is unknown but clearly it was awhile if Lunas anger was that deep and long-growing. Second of all. Twilight was basically chosen by chance, her magic and dedication was strong at such a young age and that potential shouldn’t have gone to waste, yes she was young but isn’t that the best time to start something new? I personally believe that Celestia made the right choice in choosing Twilight, and training her how she did (sending her to Ponyville, having her wield elements, fighting villains e.c.t) because those are all skills a ruler needs to learn and don’t even start by saying “well Celestia and Luna did nothing” well if you honestly think about it, they turned discord to stone, put Tirek back in prison, protected the citizens of Equestria since they were fillies and kept harmony for thousands of years, kept the world going by rotating the sun and moon and on top of all that Celestia had to banish her own sister so she wouldn’t be severely punished for the rest of her life! If that’s doing nothing then you can’t say the mane six did loads because they did it in a group of six whereas C + L did it alone.
The only con I see from this is her friends dying, which she would be unset of course but that’s just a fact of life, I personally believe that as she was so powerful she would’ve stayed alive even as a unicorn (sorta like starswirl)

First disagree: Celestia and Luna reign was too long. The sister's have the experience and strength to have an endless rule.
Twilight becoming ruler and alicorn is fine, but was poorly executed by the fantastic writers of the show. Too soon comes to mind. Twilight was an alicorn for a while and did very little as far as Royal duties.
Over time I've come to accept it, but the whole Sister's retiring thing? Nah that makes little to no sense. Given x amount of time experiences happen. They wouldn't have been so occupied as shown in my eyes.
So all in all, It was an okay choice that could've been done better.

I believe because they deserved the break, i believe that after a couple years of retirement they would help Twi generally not as rulers but help her.
