    Mixed Blessing

8+ years ago I had to take Early Retirement. This incurs a financial penalty. They deduct a maximum of 25% from your SSI payment. :raritycry:

    Blocked!

Extremeenigma02 has blocked me from posting on any of his stories & banned me from PM ING him to ask why.

Damned if I can guess. Most offensive thing I posted on any of his stories was a list of some typos & a suggestion that he get a proofreader from The Proofreader Group

    Pet Peeves

    Supposedly, Hearth's Warming = Christmas.
    No it does NOT!
Christmas is supposed to be about the birth of Jesus. Watch A Charlie Brown Christmas if you don't know that.

Per the S2 E11 episode, Hearth's Warming Eve, it is about the tribes coming together to drive off the Wendigos and found a nation which (I suppose) eventually became Equestria.

    Military Service

Elvis Presley was in the military in the 1950s John Wayne (famous for playing military roles & cowboys) was A3 (sole financial support of his family) & never served.

Rudyard Kipling also never served (Wrote a LOT of military stories). Bad eyes + too old & married for WW1.

Hemingway drove an ambulance in WW1 + was in Spain during the Fascist conquest.

    Stuff Learned Along The Way

Arnold Shwartzeneggger almost turned down the role of The Terminator (arguably his most famous role) because the part had only 23 lines in the whole movie.

Abraham Lincoln was a famous wrestler in his youth. He had only 1 loss in about 300 matches.

Military Service & POTUS · 3:31pm Apr 27th, 2023

WW2v& earlier, EVERY major US war produced at least 1 POTUS.
War of 1812 Andrew Jackson
WW1 Harry Truman
Since WW2, nothing.

Since George HW Bush, the closest would be W.

He was on active duty 1968-1974 as an aviator in the Texas National Guard.

He never got closer to combat than Texas plus shorted his required service by about 6 months. His family was politically connected enough that he never got in trouble for this.

Clinton got student deferments + a high draft number. Biden, basically the same.

Obama was too young. Born in 1961, he was 12 when the USA pulled out of Vietnam.

Trump got a student deferment plus a medical waiver for bone spurs in a foot.
1) Bone spurs CAN correct themselves even without treatment. A medical exam now wouldn't necessarily show if he had bone spurs 50+ years ago.
2) Trump is a habitual liar who has contradicted himself on "which foot had spurs?".
3) Trump's doctor owed his landlord (Trump's father) money. There is no record this money was ever repaid. Both their tax records are sealed, so this proves nothing.
4) Trump's then doctor is dead. His doctor's daughter claims (without evidence) that her father faked it.
5) The X-rays (if any) are gone. There is no legal requirement they be kept & it is common to destroy them after awhile (too expensive to store them indefinitely).

It's too soon to say, but Ron DeSantis (Gen X) did serve as a legal advisor to a Navy Seal team in Iraq. If elected, he would be the first POTUS in almost 50 years to serve in a war zone.
