MLP FiM: Rewrite Ideas

How would you have changed MLP FiM to make it a more interesting show? Any changes to the Mane 6, background characters, setting, worldbuilding, etc?
What changes would you have made to certain seasons of the actual show itself? Would you want to adapt certain IDW comics into episode plots?
One change that I would make is using Lauren Faust's original theme of a more action-adventure-focused show. More emphasis on overarching plotlines, long-term consequences for the characters, and adding stakes not just for fast-paced plots but also for emotional growth in the characters.
But how would you have written MLP FiM differently from what we ended up with?
