Internal Tooth Whitening is a whitening procedure that is commonly performed on dark stained teeth that have lost their vitality by undergoing Endodontic dental treatment (root canal treatment). Of course, this isn’t going to be the answer for every tooth that has a grey or dark discolouration. It comes down to what the cause of the staining is. The internal bleaching gel has the same effect as the external bleaching products, but it acts from the inside of the tooth. The procedure can be performed as a self standing procedure or correlated with external whitening procedures. However, you have to ask your dentist whether it is recommended to combine the two, because the condition of the tooth does not always allow it, or it might not be necessary. Internal bleaching or internal whitening is a procedure your dentist does to whiten a dark tooth after doing a root canal. The root canal may have been years ago or may be done at the same time as the bleaching. To see more images of before and after examples click this link.
